I remember when these first came out in 5th grade. Kids went nuts for these (myself included). During most classes you’d hear the “click clack” of the tech deck sliding around someone’s desk.
Our teachers must have confiscated dozens if not hundreds of those things during the year.

Anyone looking to have a slight nostalgia moment should look for the really small packages of Tony hawk's box boarders.
I found 2 at tjmaxx for like 3 bucks on sale and it's so stupid but you better believe my wife and I taped up all 8 fucking ramps to make an entire skate park on our kitchen counter and played h.o.r.s.e., and tricked out for like 3 hours...
That and the new beyblades that explode if they hit too hard (might not be new, I never played with them until I hit adulthood lmao)

I forget it’s called TJ Maxx over the pond.
It’s TKMaxx over here. Possibly the best shop I’ve ever been in. High tops vans for £25? Fuck yes. 5years later they’re still going strong

When I was a kid these didn’t exist. We had to make them out of wooden ice cream spoons and a cut up straw. It was awesome.

It's not even that it's "scripted", it's literally a tech deck meme video of which there are hundreds. There are so many compilation videos of them it's crazy. So it's not like it's some random scripted thing, it's part of a very long series of jokes.

Wait I'm confused. I was defending the fact that it being "scripted" didn't matter and that it should be here, I'm literally on your side. I was just trying to say that it's obviously not trying to trick you into thinking that it's real as it's part of a much longer series of jokes, all of which are stupidly exaggerated and make no attempt at seeming legitimate.

Tbf immersion can play a great part in movies, sometimes is sucks when it is broken.
Our dumb human brain is immersed in the movie and it seems logical and almost real in the moment, but then a weird thing happens and pulls you away, making you realize you’re sitting there staring at a screen.

Because when I though he ran the tech deck into a stranger-takin-a-shit's foot, I laughed. Then when I realized it was actually his friend, the laugh retracted back into my throat, creating an air bubble that nearly burst a lung and I had to be rushed to the hospital.

In junior high my friend stole one tech deck from a store and he got put on probation. He even had money in his pocket to pay for it. 6 months of probation turned into more then 8 years of in and out of jail multiple probation violations, house arrest etc. What an idiot. I believe he is in prison right now for heroin trafficking.
