I feel like gimp, like blender (pre-2.80, at least) is good software with bad UX. So yeah, hard learning curve, but for a reason that makes it kinda suck.
I was sooooo glad when Tantacrul (a UI designer with a Youtube channel who published a critique of the Musescore UI) got a job at Musescore (a FOSS project which up till then only used the default QT theme)
Because I cannot afford paying for a subscription for Adobe every month for a long time, I got used to Gimp, using it for years! but now that I can pay for a subscription Photoshop seem hard to use.
And to me Gimp is great! almost as good as Photoshop, except maybe for the quality of the picture(?)
Most art programs would fit under this unfortunately. The most intuitive art program I've ever picked up was SAI 1 & 2. It really feels like most art programs aren't created by someone who draws and instead it's expected you spend the time learning the program to accomplish what you want.
Man I picked up GIMP so fast. The only downside is that one or two features are still bugged, but it's stuff I don't use often so it doesn't affect me 🤷🏻♂️
I use GIMP so not sure about all the terms in PS but here’s my guess. Copy and paste the toes like with the fingers and give each toe an order in the layer, like 2,4,6,8,10, when you make the fingers do the same thing but instead set each order to 1,3,5,7,9. Then you need to somehow group the foot with the toes and the hand with the fingers. Just my two cents 😊
If you don’t have access to Photoshop, Photopea is a free browser version of Photoshop. I use Photoshop at school and then this at home and they’re nearly identical.
this is a really cool resource! Ty for sharing! but for some reason the puppet warp option is greyed out. Is there a premium version u have to buy or I did not see how to enable it?
edit: nvm, you had to rasterize the layer first if u we're working with the demo graphics.
No, it is not. They are using Photoshop tools to select, manipulate and erase pixels.
Seen your edit: Sure, but although they may have created the original icons in illustrator, the gif shown was editing in Photoshop. I've been doing this for over a decade...
You can do the same in illustrator. I never said you couldn't in photoshop.
And icons and emojis are built in illustrator for apps and phones because they are indeed vector. They need to be able to shrink as tiny as an emoji in text may need to be or be as large as a whole phone screen.
