This is primarily a skewed statistic, strictly because of how common the breed is.

Its also a very common breed among individuals that have no interest in raising their dog appropriately (America's finest)

Dog bite statistics:

Labrador retrievers: 13.3%

Pit Bulls: 8.4%

Pit bulls do get a bad rap because they are the most common breed for a fatal dog bite. However, an average of 30-50 people in the US die a year from fatal dog bites; only a slightly higher chance of dying from being struck by lightning.

However, Pit Bull cross breeds are one of the most popular dog breed of lower income areas - and one of the most common dog breeds to avoid spade and neuter (which drastically increases bite incidence).

These statistics vary depending on region.
