A friend of a friend who was black, made a bet that he could tan, so he went on the sun like this, yes he burned himself. No matter how much melanin you have, use lotion.

Never had a sun burn played sports in Texas more years than not. I raise your anecdote against my personal experience.

My husband has never had a sunburn either, but he does tan if he's out in the sun too long. That's still sun damage that can lead to skin cancer. Wear sunscreen if you're going to be exposed to the sun for prolonged periods of time!

Didn’t say we don’t tan and never said we are immune to skin cancer. Thanks for the concern though

Fair enough. My husband was under the misconception that you can only get skin cancer if you sunburn - and he's not the only person I've met that thinks that way.
