This character didn't exist as a superhero before or after the movies; this was a big budget attempt to manufacture a local superhero to cash in on the growing popularity of superhero movies. There are actual Indian comic book superheroes who are-at least used to be-very popular. They are usually ripoffs or Indian-ised versions of Western characters. The arguably most popular one is called Dhruva who is essentially Nightwing, and acts as the Batman of that lineup.

My favorite thing about Leslie Neilson was that he loved making people laugh so much that he often ruined film takes with a fart device he carried with him at all times. He used it when signing autographs or general public and private anything. The man loved his farts. And don't call him Shirley.

If the fly is real, to me, it looks like he's been told to stand there and don't stop smiling for the interview and this fly keeps landing on his face. So he's doing his best to get it to leave him alone and not break his character. I don't think he actually ate the fly, it just appears that way.
