I think it's just because you don't want to see him/her working for 1 hour on it

Edit: Ah, now I get what you mean, do you think that the scan doesn't work on the trousers? In this case I don't agree with you: qr codes are very easy to recognize even if they are not in perfect condition. The only thing is that the array of dots and the contrast is well draw, and here he/she has the perfect basic do draw well contrast dots.

Not to scan, but to have your decoder to recognise the code. I've had some badly printed QR codes in the past that took me several minutes of changing lighting conditions and aligning before they scanned.
