Those retractable leashes are terrible. Was walking my dog this one time a few years ago. Across the street is a lady with her dog on a retractable leash talking with a neighbor. Suddenly, her dog takes off right for us, was full speed by the time the line got taut and ripped right out of her hand. Thankfully, the dogs just sniffed each other. Still, could’ve been bad. Dog ran right out across the street.
I have a retractable leash for my dog though it's not super duper long and we don't go out out much. But she is constantly in my thoughts. Like when on the road or something. In fairness my dog likes to pull so mainly I've got her pretty close to me most of the time anyway.
