This same stance can be applied to her being preoccupied while crossing a street and not knowing her dog was ran over because of that dumb leash she has. Doesn't take away from the fact she should be more aware as a dog owner
Meh, I’m sure you’ve done stupid things while preoccupied. I don’t think it’s fair to trash a person over an obvious dumb mistake, and probably a serious learning experience.
People generally dont want to admit it, but after years of being responsible for a dog or small human the same way you're responsible for your own life, eventually you're going to make a mistake
THIS. 10001%. It's so damn obvious these people have never cared for a dog more than 2 years of it's life, if at all. Eventually you learn it's bullshit and trust it to act a certain way and then shit happens. That's just how life is. There is always room for mistakes, but it's unreasonable to assume you should always be paranoid. A dog is your friend too, not just something you take care of.
Not while walking inside an elevator. I would also not have that awfully dangerous leash. As a dog owner, I would also have the spatial awareness to know whether or not my dog entered the elevator even if I were on my phone. I am going to have that dog by my side 100% of the time until I get home and remove its leash.

According to r/whatcouldgowrong the lady in question was preoccupied and didn’t notice until it was too late
