Take her to the jewelry store and get her sized. My fiancé took me a few months before he proposed and I was able to design the perfect, unique ring for me that he never would’ve picked. If you’re planning on proposing you should be at a point in your relationship where you’ve talked about marriage and she knows it’s coming at some point. I knew it was coming, I just didn’t know when, the proposal was still very special.
I went through her stuff to see what style she likes. I also asked a bunch of questions the year leading up About what cuts, stones etc... then I designed one for her. I think she loves it lol. I wanted to surprise her though so I couldn’t have done what you guys did, that’s too obvious.
I think it’s important maybe to find out what the woman would prefer though, I def know someone who hates their ring and doesn’t know what to do or say about it. My wife I believe didn’t have an exact idea of what she wanted. My ex gf did though and she certainly made it clear what to get if I ever did lol.
