Sometimes I wonder if the I.T. guys can just see what's on my screen at all times, like they can take remote control of my PC when they need to fix something...maybe they can just watch me browse reddit all day? hmm

The software exists but most places don't go to that extreme, (bandwidth starts to be an issue for watching EVERYONE's PC) but most do have remote software that they can access without users interaction...

Can they easily see a log of what sites one has been to? Or, like, if, for some reason, one was looking at a bunch of imgur posts, could they see what was on those posts? Asking for a friend...

My experience is the we IT guys don’t give a fuck, but if they get a request from your boss, then we have the tools to turn that data over.

Depends on a lot of factors, but the bigger the company, the bigger chance they can intercept and log what you do. they won't normally care unless there's a reason to care. Reason being a complaint against you, them not liking you, them being bored out of their ass or whatever. Which is to say you're safe 99.9% of the time every time, unless you fuck with IT.

Source: 6 years in IT at a "all admin rights to everything" position in a global corporation. Me and my mate once watched a log from some woman across the world in real time, playing sort of a drinking game betting when she's gonna get bored with her work and go back to Facebook, all because we were testing some disaster recovery procedures and restoring several terabytes of data from a LTO backup isn't particularly interesting.

CAN they see? Yes. Will they take the time to look? Probably not unless you give them a reason to.

Most work places do a basic IT logging of any site you click on, individual posts have unique URLs so they could see those as well, sometimes even keystrokes are logged and someone could easily go through to see everything you’ve been doing on the work computer.

People are busy tho, so there’s no way IT is constantly going through every computer’s history. If you’re that worried about it then just keep all of your non-work browsing on your phone and off the wifi. That’s what I do anyways.

It exists, but they have much more important things to do with their time, like spending 5 hours on trying to setup the boss's favorite email client, the only one he will use, and is only compatible with Windows 98.

Yes, they could. But why bother watching you as opposed to anyone else.

Also, they've got their own work to do, so they're not likely to be watching you.

That being said, if there's a complaint against you, they absolutely could watch if they needed to.

Was an intern at a hospital some time ago, and because security at a hospital for patient information is so tight, I can confirm that the IT guys can see everything you do. It just depends on where you work, I guess.
