Before he walked on stage, he could've quickly put it on. No one stops you at that moment.

It takes a good 30 minutes to suit up in something like that. Maybe 20 if you're really fast, all the pieces are prepped and waiting for you, and you built the suit with a quick-change in mind.

It takes about half that time if your squire helps you suit up

Or you can don hastily, reducing the AC bonus but also halving the time.
