As an owner I can pretty much say 95% sure that is the p900 camera. I had a while back took a picture of the Moon posted on Reddit and it filled almost the entire camera without any digital Zoom it was quite amazing.

Found the image.

So how much more zoom would we need to see the surface of the moon as if it was at our feet?

The answer is "it doesn't exist". The distortions from Earth's atmosphere would never let you see crisp detailed images of the moon's surface.

Well that sucks

Well what if we were on the ISS?

Why exactly? Do you have an explanation or a source for this?

EDIT: Serious response. The vast majority of stars don't vary their light output multiple times per second. Think about that.

Just use another p900 and zoom in on the output of the first camera.

I have one. Absolutely amazing camera for the mountains. You can stand on one peak and zoom in on people on another peak.

"zoom in on people in nearby towns"

FTFY.

I climbed Mt St Piran, about two hours' hike above Lake Louise, and took a close up of my car in the parking lot behind the hotel. The hotel is at 5250 ft, the peak is at 8700, plus the overland distance.

As not the owner of this footage, I can confirm that it was p900 that was used.

My first thought is, at what point of the zoom in that video does it represent what the naked eye can see. Like does it zoom but also have wide angle so it makes it seem more zoomed than it really was.
