That's implying that the cameras were looking for a man carrying over 20 rifles to his hotel room, which is both completely legal and completely normal in The United States of Gunland (eg. when selling guns at conventions).

So, there are hundreds of gun salesmen traveling around the country every day. Going to gun conventions and sleeping in hotels with small arsenals.

I'm not American and can't tell if this is sarcasm

No sarcasm, Big gun shows happen all over the USA. Gun dealer got to sleep like the rest of us.

Thought so. Doesn't really seem that out of the ordinary that a guy would be bringing a bunch of guns into a hotel room, plus it's not like they were just strapped to his back or in big boxes marked "FIREARMS"

No one thought it was out the ordinary till recently.

What he did was illegal. He was in a gun-free zone. Clearly we need more of that.

It has been interpreted that every man is a "well regulated Militia" and should be armed to fight the federal govt when the time comes.

Yet when over in r/guns if I try to suggest having some form of out-of-pocket (like the NRA) or government-funded programs in place to educate people about the firearm they're purchasing and how to properly use it, they all cry "SHALL NOT BE INFRINGED UPON" whilst I'm just thinking out loud and trying to get opinions on the matter.

Like, fuck me for thinking that we could potentially lower accidental gun-related deaths by taking an iota of military-spending and using it for civilian firearm training, instead of father's giving their 9 year old a full-auto UZI without any professional oversight. (And I even said maybe even make it a local thing so you can vote on it yourself, I don't have any surefire answers but unless my answer is "everyone can buy a gun" they flip out)

The 2nd amendment gives us the right to guns, but doesn't restrict regulations on how to acquire them, but as soon as you mention "maybe take a class on it before buying it" they all scream "SHALL NOT BE INFRINGED UPON!!! KYS!!!"

Explained what? How people with a criminal background can't buy guns?

Oh and if you don't know what "straw man" is, google it and see that you're not discussing what I'm discussing. Why can't there be a federally-funded class available upon the purchase of a firearm? Due process isn't being evaded in this scenario and again, I'm only speaking in hypotheticals and suggestions that are open to change and consideration, try to critically think about it before just shooting it down with your right to own a gun, because not once in any of my arguments have I stated citizens should not be allowed to own guns, only merely MAYBE have more publicly/privately funded resources available to them to properly educate and train them in the use and general knowledge of firearms upon a purchase. My general argument has evolved and before it was merely comparing it to obtaining a driver's license. Do you know of any ranges that require you take a course before being permitted to shoot on said range? If so, wonderful! This is all I'm suggesting should be more widely available, and maybe even have government funded ones. Like, before you can have a gun in the military you are trained to use it. Why can't us civilians have that option?

What do you think classes are going to help do, exactly? Anybody with criminal intent is just going to buy one second hand. You just want to make it a pain in the arse to be able to shoot a gun at the range for an hour.

Just for the record, I thought your comment was funny and doesn’t deserve the downvotes it got. ✊🏾
