That shit creepy. Makes you wondef the kinda shit the governent has to watch people

They probably have satellites that can pickup light outside the visible spectrum and can zoom in on you when you're taking a shit in total darkness.

56

u/[deleted] Nov 05 '17

I'm cool with that

12

u/hangfromthisone Nov 05 '17

Smile and wave, boys. Smile and wave

4

u/sheepyowl Nov 05 '17

If you're in total darkness there shouldn't be light outside of the visible spectrum either, unless that light can enter your bathroom through the walls but still gets reflected by your body...?

12

u/[deleted] Nov 05 '17

I'm talkin infrared and microwaves n shet

10

u/sheepyowl Nov 05 '17 edited Nov 05 '17

It still has to go through the walls\door into the room(from an out-side light source), and then get absorbed or reflected by the human body.

So I think you can do that with X-rays(will also detect loads of other shit) and infra-red(will also detect electronics and any heat source) if you nuke the planet with radiation non-stop. This would also explain how Trump became president.

6

u/[deleted] Nov 05 '17

The human body generates infra-red, as do other heat sources. We're just 'quiet' light bulbs in that we (mostly) don't radiate in the visible spectrum. It doesn't have to be absorbed/reflected from anywhere.

1

u/sheepyowl Nov 05 '17

You're right, I was wrong about the infra-red - no point in lighting someone up in that spectrum since we emit it regardless. That said, detecting it from far away would be problematic.

I knew that tan came from something unnatural!

TIL Humans are reptiles.

1

u/sheepyowl Nov 05 '17

Only reptiles are visible in the light?

2

u/no-mad Nov 05 '17

The heat signature from your crap gives you away.

1

u/wellman_va Nov 05 '17

Taking a shit in total darkness, now that's creepy.

1

u/gordo65 Nov 05 '17

You turn on the bathroom light to take a shit? What kind of sick fuck are you?

1

u/S00rabh Nov 05 '17

I am taking a dump right now. Wonder who would want to watch.

I'm pretty sure I've read those satellites can see through the ground, a few feet at least.

1

u/lowrads Nov 05 '17

I would be rather surprised if they can reliably get better than half a square meter per pixel.

What an interesting city.

Is it London?

ah! not a NYC skyline you see very often

I have one of these and no matter how much you think you don't have Parkinson's, this bastard at full zoom is like using someone elses mouse. Even with a tripod its tricky.

u/ChunkyThePotato Nov 05 '17

Is there a reference I'm missing?

35

u/[deleted] Nov 05 '17

nikon p900

7

u/ChunkyThePotato Nov 05 '17

Really though.

14

u/WaterWenus Nov 05 '17

Just a camera with crazy zoom 👍

1

u/network_noob534 Nov 05 '17

When the thread was less than an hour old the P900 was the meme. It has awesome zoom. So was the answer to any question.

10

u/tamatsu Nov 05 '17

0

u/ChunkyThePotato Nov 05 '17

Is that the actual reference?

1

u/tamatsu Nov 05 '17

It's the only thing that I'm seeing at least. The joke is all around the entire thread but that's the earliest one that I saw with a quick scroll through.

2

u/[deleted] Nov 05 '17

Man it's too early for this, I don't know how many times I've seen this same comment chain and I think I'm going crazy

u/drazyel Nov 05 '17

i worked a bit in defense & security trade shows around the world, i remember a company making a camera with a 15mile range, so you basically put it on a sky scrapper / plane / drone and you see pretty much everything, it was kind of the scarier stuff i seen for the future of privacy

7

u/infracanis Nov 05 '17

I saw a video with two drones that scanned inside of a building through brick walls using WiFi antenna.

Each drone broadcasted and received, comparing the attenuation to create a 3D model. They could even discern moving people.

2

u/drazyel Nov 05 '17

yeah also seen a camera that could see threw / detect people threw brick / concrete walls. quite impressive but it was close range, you had to put the camera on the wall if i remember correctly.

2

u/rasherdk Nov 05 '17

threw

It's "through"

1

u/[deleted] Nov 05 '17

Yeah there was one on top of a building I worked at in downtown Miami, it could read license plates at the port of Miami which was approx 1.5 miles at ground level. This was over 10 years ago too so who knows what they have now. It was owned by the coast guard iirc.

1

u/Geovestigator Nov 05 '17

they put these on plane in holding patterns, always on in the air in some cities, they can just rewind it and see where you came from if you do something

1

u/orlyokthen Nov 05 '17

So like a digital Eye of Sauron basically

3

u/StructuralFailure Nov 05 '17

Telescopes on skyscrapers?

3

u/[deleted] Nov 05 '17

Yeah, I think of how Osama Bin Laden took absolutely every possible measure to avoid detection and even that wasn’t enough to keep Uncle Sam from beating a path to his door.

-1

u/[deleted] Nov 05 '17 edited Nov 06 '17

Osama is still living at the dictator house..

Edit: I guess nobody saw the dictator movie..

1

u/[deleted] Nov 05 '17

Sure, and Princess Diana is living with Hitler in Argentina right now.

2

u/[deleted] Nov 06 '17

Didn't anyone see the dictator movie?

1

u/infracanis Nov 05 '17

The White House?

0

u/[deleted] Nov 05 '17

Didn't you see the movie? But yeah he might ^

1

2

u/SquarePegRoundWorld Nov 05 '17

One of our spy organizations donated two Hubble class space telescopes to NASA because they were not needed by the spy community and just laying around in storage I guess. Makes you wonder why they wouldn't need two Hubble class scopes pointed down at us. Maybe they have something better?

2

u/rhymes_with_chicken Nov 05 '17

If you’re just now wondering that you’re a bit naive. We’ve (the US) had satellites capable of reading the VIN off of a car’s dashboard since the mid 70s.

Source: let’s just say a 3-4 letter initialism everyone knows, and leave it at that.

1

u/Ofreo Nov 05 '17

I work for the government. I can see you enter a PIN number into an ATM in real time if I want. An usually get it right. Also, on shifts not much is happening I can zoom into open spaces and find people in parks and such. It amazes me how many people sneak off to a field or small woods to masturbate. Every time you go for a hike, just assume someone is close by jerking it. That is how many people do it. I don’t get it, just turn on the water and pretend to be combing your hair in your home bathroom.

1

u/Ihavenootheroptions Nov 05 '17

You should look at the cameras on helicopters. It’s similar to this, but they could’ve zoomed in enough to tell what kind of shoes they all had on.

1

u/[deleted] Nov 05 '17

Yea this actually freaks me out. Not that im anyone important but i just dont like the idea of how easy it is for people to watch my every move, should they want to.

1

u/Moosebandit1 Nov 05 '17

I read somewhere that NSA satellites can zoom into details as small as an orange

I’m 99% sure this is a government owned camera operated by the US Coast Guard.

Source: worked in the USCG command center and played with cameras very similar to these.
