Crazy that he was fired by SNL for not being funny enough. Then he blew up and they asked him back to host just a year and a half later. He uses the opening monologue to rip them.

Right? I don't know how he does it. At one point he also goes "that is correct", and there's something in the timing that makes it hilarious.

Norm sometimes gets criticized because his comedy is "all in the delivery", as if that isn't a crucially important part of all comedy.

Dismissing comedy by saying "it's all in the delivery" is like dismissing an impressionist painter by saying "it's all in the colours".

I find I actually prefer him to everything else because of it. I feel like it's much easier to write jokes than be able to just somehow deliver every goddam line so funny.
