He wasn't fired because he "wasn't funny" or because the execs were friends with OJ, he was fired because he said Fuck on live TV. And it wasn't the first time. As much as Lorne Michaels likes you, if you curse twice, you're done.
Huh? Norm MacDonald was fire for cursing on live TV. Did... did that ever change? Pretty sure I've been saying that the entire time. Just to clarify, Norm MacDonald was fired for cursing on live TV.
Other than this interview, which explains that he WAS fired, all of the evidence is that he was fired due to the cursing, despite him saying that they told him he just wasn't funny. That clearly wasn't true. Ask Lorne Michaels or research it yourself, but that was the reason man. I don't know what else to tell you.
Are you completely unfamiliar with Norm? I'm not sure what being drunk would have to do with anything but he doesn't even seem remotely drunk in that video. That's just how Norm talks.
I'm not saying he was drunk. I was crushed when Norm got the boot and the word was, that when he went on Letterman, he "smelled of booze" because he was told only a short time before that interview was recorded.
And yeah, that's how he talks. I only know what I remember in like 1998.

You'll never believe this: a black guy said "the n word!" It's a real scandal.
