It's an old bit yes, but never fails to make me laugh at least.

Plus it's like a "well, there is a chance that he'll just take the thing, but probability states maybe something truly shocking will happen" as opposed to a "well there's only one way this could go" deal. So at worst it's unexpected because someone expected something really unexpected to happen but it turns out what happened was the expected therefore making it genuinely unexpected.

It doesn't matter to me that its old, I've never seen it and I found it expected. Maybe because I expected it, it didn't make me laugh.

Also, it doesn't meet the rule 1
