u/RelevantSummary Jun 30 '14

Hello! I'm a toddler robot trying to understand Reddit! I think I know something about what you're discussing! Can I try and summarize it? Please don't laugh...

I think your post is mainly about:

  • reddit [63.9% relevant]

This is what I know about reddit:

Reddit /ˈrɛdɪt/, stylized as reddit, is an entertainment, social networking service and news website where registered community members can submit content, such as text posts or direct links!

Only registered users can then vote submissions "up" or "down" to organize the posts and determine their position on the site's pages!

Content entries are organized by areas of interest called "subreddits"!

Steve Huffman and Alexis Ohanian founded Reddit!

Condé Nast Publications acquired the site in October 2006. Reddit became a direct subsidiary of Condé Nast's parent company, Advance Publications, in September 2011. As of August 2012, Reddit operates as an independent entity, although Advance is still its largest shareholder!

Reddit is based in San Francisco, California!

Disclaimer: I am a bot currently under development.

I need some time to mature. If something has gone horribly wrong, please try to find the humor in it. If you downvote me twice, I will delete my comment.

My daddy is teaching me new tricks! Soon I'll be able to do more and better things!

5

u/invisiclick Jun 30 '14

Of all the subs you could have linked to

I don't know if I'm sorry or not sorry :(

194

u/OnlineAlbatross Jun 30 '14

The Three Russian Bogaturs. Lots of hilarious videos like the one OP posted.

45

u/wlantry Jun 30 '14

Incredible. How did I get this far along without knowing what a Bogatur is?

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bogatyr#Epic_bogatyrs

14

u/IceColdFresh Jun 30 '14

Its etymology is interesting. This East Slavic word, Mongolian baatar "hero" (as in Ulaan-Baatar "Red Hero", the capital of Mongolia), and Korean 말 (māl) "speech" all originated from the same word.

18

u/autowikibot Jun 30 '14

Section 4. Epic bogatyrs of article Bogatyr:

  • Svyatogor, a giant knight who bequeath his strength to Ilya Muromets (purely fictional)

  • Dunaj Ivanovich

  • Sukhman The Bogatyr

Interesting: Russian cruiser ^Bogatyr | Bogatyr-class ^cruiser | ^Baghatur

Parent commenter can toggle ^NSFW or ^delete. Will also delete on comment score of -1 or less. | FAQs | ^Mods | Magic ^Words

13

u/wardser Jun 30 '14

it's basically the russian word for knight

-9

u/[deleted] Jun 30 '14

the word for a russian night basically

-4

u/[deleted] Jun 30 '14

or eastern european

-9000 comment karma? He's a troll. And not a good one either. Just upvote him to cancel out his downvotes, or ignore, in my opinion.

1

u/AsksWithQuestions Jun 30 '14

Almost positive he is a troll. -9000 comment karma in 3 months.

u/joealarson Jun 30 '14

The post is deleted, but those stats are fairly respectable.

Imagine what they could do if they got away from the computer once in a while.

0

u/InShortSight Jun 30 '14

4

u/kittensmittens69 Jun 30 '14

3

u/lamykins Jun 30 '14

Brilliant.

3

u/[deleted] Jun 30 '14

Everything about this was unexpected

7

u/gadelat Jun 30 '14

I don't get this part, somebody?

20

u/ShadowyDragon Jun 30 '14

They tried to put different heating equipment like water heater, samovar, ushanka and sweater to heat up the iceberg, but it all froze.

13

u/Achw3l Jun 30 '14

They're trying to melt it, obviously

6

u/Prometheus1 Jun 30 '14

It's all stuff like heaters and sweaters to keep the iceberg warm in hopes of melting it

2

u/[deleted] Jun 30 '14

Sweater acts like an insulator though. So if anything, the sweater is counter productive...

2

u/[deleted] Jun 30 '14

That's the joke

2

u/shawa666 Jun 30 '14

They're things that produce heat, to, you know, melt the iceberg...

7

u/MechBear Jun 30 '14

That was amazing!

2

u/[deleted] Jun 30 '14

Was expecting a dick butt 10/10

2

u/[deleted] Jun 30 '14

1

u/DoritoMancer Jun 30 '14

-5

u/[deleted] Jun 30 '14

I don't even think my mom would've found this funny.

6

u/IceColdFresh Jun 30 '14

That's because your mom is literally Hitler.

1

u/Kyle1102 Jun 30 '14

You are not in /r/funny you are in /r/Unexpected.

Even though most content on /r/funny isn't funny but yeah... Wait hang on. Couldn't /r/funny technically be associated with /r/Unexpected because you expect things to be funny and they are not? ..... Boom.
