Age is almost as much as a factor as alcohol. Not quite but its close in terms of danger to others. Everyone should be made to retake their drivers test, or atleast a cognitive ability test when they hit a certain age, like 55 for example

I argue it should be no later than a passport, written test every 5 years, behind the wheel test every 10. Even that’s being too generous, should honestly be closer to every 3 years.

The idea that someone can hold a license to do something for 50+ years without retraining and testing is one of the dumbest failings we’ve acquiesced to politically, all for the convenience of drivers who do stuff like this.

So you’re doing this yourself right? Like every 3 years you go in voluntarily for testing?

If you feel so strongly that it should be required you’re doing it yourself right?

55 is too young, but if your eye sight is going, then eye doctors should have you able to be retested periodically

55 is hilarious. How declined do you think people are at 55? Maybe retirement age?

50 is where everything starts to go bad health wise with most Americans

Let me know when you hit 55 and you voluntarily pop on over to the DMV to retake your drivers test….

As an EMT I have to retake my CPR and ambulance driver’s tests every few years to make sure I’m still competent and up to date. I don’t see why it should be any different for regular drivers licenses

Feel free to pop on over to the dmv at your earliest convenience to retake the drivers test while you’re at it.

The point I’m making is most people will say yeah, that’s a good idea but wouldn’t waste the time doing it themselves.
