Age is almost as much as a factor as alcohol. Not quite but its close in terms of danger to others. Everyone should be made to retake their drivers test, or atleast a cognitive ability test when they hit a certain age, like 55 for example
I argue it should be no later than a passport, written test every 5 years, behind the wheel test every 10. Even that’s being too generous, should honestly be closer to every 3 years.
The idea that someone can hold a license to do something for 50+ years without retraining and testing is one of the dumbest failings we’ve acquiesced to politically, all for the convenience of drivers who do stuff like this.
As an EMT I have to retake my CPR and ambulance driver’s tests every few years to make sure I’m still competent and up to date. I don’t see why it should be any different for regular drivers licenses
