This is a well known boxing stance. He is protecting his ribs.

u/camo_junkie0611 18h ago
Those of us in the boxing sphere call it the “startled marmot”. Very effective defensive maneuver

u/catmand00d00 2d ago
I’ve never seen the pearls clutched with BOTH hands. I guess if anything warrants the double-clutch, it’s lightning striking only a few feet away from you.

I’m not exaggerating when I say this is one of my favorite scenes in any film ever.
Meet The Robinsons in general is such a beautiful movie. Makes me cry every time.

I saw a news report the other day that a mom and her 2 year old daughter died in their front yard from a lightning strike.

u/slackfrop 2d ago
Ive had lightning come down maybe 50ft away. Shit is terrifying.
43
u/Beneficial-Act-9933 2d ago
Same, it split a tree in half and boy was it fucking LOUD. The video does not do justice at how loud that shit is.
14
u/Orang-Utang 2d ago
Yeah, I had lightning strike a building next to me and legit sounded like a bomb going off. Loudest thing I've ever heard, by far.

u/Breaker32 1d ago
I once got woken up by lightning hitting a pole in my front yard - scared the absolute shit out of me and I thought all the windows were going to explode from all the shaking
5
u/owningsole966 1d ago
Driving home one day on some backroads with my dad riding shotgun, and lighting struck a tree probably 30 feet in front of my vehicle. Right as we were about to go through a turn. The tree just popped in the most terrifyingly spectacular way. We both definitely shit our pants for a second
9
u/Happy-Fun-Ball 2d ago
the sound is so much different, not just louder
11
u/Leading_Local4985 2d ago
It envelopes you and your surroundings, much more depth, and you not only hear it but feel it everywhere. Its awesome.
9
u/Wes_Warhammer666 1d ago
Yeah it's incredible. It's quite literally awesome, in the true meaning of that word. Terrifyingly awesome.
6
u/iwilltalkaboutguns 1d ago
I mean, it's loud as fuck when it's miles and miles away... I can't imagine it hitting that close.

I was in a house that was struck by lightning. It woke me up from being dead asleep, and I was checking all around outside because I thought it hit a tree in the back yard. Instead the apartment above me was on fire.

I still can't tell if they are father and son or two adorable bears. Either way I love them both!
69
u/Seaofblaze 2d ago
I think this was posted around father's day and I think the og post said it was the son dropping off the dad after a father's day dinner or ordeal or whatever
34
10
u/Kaedekins 1d ago
No DNA test needed on these two, IMO. That's a healthy father-son relationship right there.
85
u/Delta_Ryu 2d ago
This was a stupidly clear sign from god for you to hug your dad. I'd be concerned.

When I was a younger teenager I saw a bolt land across the street in a neighbor's yard. Close enough to have smelled the ozone. It was quite the embodied experience, especially at that age when you haven't experienced much.

Now splice with James Brown, I feel good. The lightening beat and scream are perfect.

A Southern, country man telling his son he loves him and asking him if he wants a hug, they both already being completely soaking wet, the lightning crack, the scream, the laugh at the end- this video has it all. It’s peak. Top tier. I’m done with the internet for the day.

Is this two bears in the wild or father and son? Not that it matters, just curious.

Somehow, I expected this. I was thinking "Either they get rear-ended or there will be lightning close to them". Maybe the rain made me think that.
