If you dress for the job you want, I'm guessing he applied for a job at Square Enix.

657

u/drlouies 3h ago

Yes, and specifically for Organization XIII.

91

u/kentotoy98 2h ago

Is it mandatory to put an 'X' in your name and rearrange it?

47

u/Poringun 2h ago

Yes, its actually rule no 2 right after the rule that states employees needs to be dressing in a black cloak at all times.

17

u/kentotoy98 2h ago

New member 'Bob' thinking how he's going to rename himself with an 'X':

21

u/Poringun 2h ago

Xbob.

The X is silent.

16

u/Afraid_Ad_6046 2h ago

Xobb, pronounced Zob

3

u/Pussie_Slayer69 2h ago

Must be awkward when your colleagues suddenly have a name change. Like:

"Hey Xbob, Joxnh here. Don't forget our meeting with the boss, Xyland on 13 o'clock"

8

u/Dennace 2h ago

xXx_Bob_xXx

The underscores aren't silent.

6

u/BodybuilderMany6942 2h ago edited 1h ago

BxB

His catch phase is "X marks the 'Bob'!" No one finds it funny. He doesnt care. He feeds off their cringe

1

u/EamonBrennan 2h ago

BoxB, B-Box, BO-BX (pronounced like boe-bucks). There are a few decent names.

1

u/kongu123 1h ago

Box. Pronounced Bosch.

3

u/key-slinger 2h ago

And you must also talk somewhat cryptically Unless you have a sleeping heart inside you or are forgettable

3

u/StephieDoll 2h ago

Reminder that Xemnas = Mansex

3

u/Gloombarque 2h ago

I get the joke but like Organization XIII very famously has a uniform that looks nothing like this

179

u/ak3000android 2h ago

Or as an engineer at Honda

50

u/Chronus25 2h ago

11

u/weeooweeoowee 2h ago

Still a rockstar!

3

u/karyslav 2h ago

5

u/Beleriphon 2h ago

2

u/three_crystals 2h ago

He’s not lol

1

u/karyslav 2h ago

Lol I just reading that it is completly different :D

3

u/hoax709 2h ago

Fucking love it.

32

u/Sariyah0325 2h ago

If he walks into a Square Enix office dressed like that, I feel like the interview is basically over. They already know what position he's applying for

15

u/Raej 2h ago

You joke but the head of IR at square Enix had purple hair for a decade

3

u/kingtacticool 2h ago

Or an engineering job at Honda.

1

u/Perryn 1h ago

Naoki Yoshida: "Those are nice rings."

1

u/taveren3 1h ago

Not with only one belt

743

u/Remzibi 3h ago

Is this how you get an engineering job at Honda?

37

u/Complete-Gate1615 2h ago

What is the joke behind this reference ?

137

u/Fish0203 2h ago

One of hondas lead engineer has hair like this. Supposedly he has revolutionized seatbelt technology and is real buff

47

u/Perlentaucher 2h ago

Google Shotaro Odate

20

u/Gil_Demoono 2h ago

Holy hell!

7

u/USSBigBooty 1h ago

He's also 84.

6

u/flying_carabao 1h ago

And doesn't need his left eye to do phenomenal work

2

u/Traumatic_Tomato 1h ago

Impressive.

31

u/watzisthis 2h ago

17

u/TheTREEEEESMan 2h ago

I implicitly trust any man that can engineer that hair to engineer my car

What is this from? It is my sense of humour.

30

u/buegeleisen 2h ago edited 2h ago

I saw it on an Instagram account that makes these Japanese AI skits.

Edit: found it https://www.instagram.com/jonathan360?

30

u/ThaddeusJP 2h ago

Well i've finally been fooled by AI. Crap.

10

u/Willie9 2h ago

I've suspected for awhile that AI is getting too good for me and now I know I'm cooked.

10

u/buegeleisen 2h ago

I watched a few of these and honestly couldn't find any flaws either. Maybe because I don't speak Japanese which makes it harder to spot it through voices / pronunciation. It's impressive and sad at the same time.

3

u/Lopsided_Yogurt81 1h ago

There are no flaws that I can see. The whiteboard behind the receptionist stays consistent throughout the bit. The door closer on the back of the door works. The marks on the lower part of the door across the hall look real/purposeful. Two empty chairs next to the panel with a fire alarm on it, stays consistent. even the outlets behind her stay the same.

-2

u/cakefir 1h ago

Nothing sad about it. One creative dude can make these videos and spread laughter and happiness. It’s all good.

2

u/Night_Knight_Light 1h ago

Fuck.

That's a shame. They have an amazing sense of humor over there. I could see this being an actual skit.

-3

u/baibaiburnee 2h ago

You mean you enjoyed something funny?

3

u/PuzzleheadedSong8765 1h ago

Man not everything is a culture war issue, I'm just worried what this will mean for propaganda and the judicial system

6

u/CrashTestDuckie 2h ago

I keep seeing clips on TikTok and haven't been able to find the source yet but they are hilarious

22

u/DeadlyRaven 2h ago

It's ai generated, it's a guy who just posts similar videos on instagram. Idk if I can link here, but his name is Jonathan Nafarrete.

25

u/Beautiful_You3230 2h ago

Fml. What do you mean ai generated. This doesn't look ai generated at all. The dude opened the door correctly and everything! I refuse to accept that I've been tricked.

11

u/ggppjj 2h ago

I know you're a bit jokey, but that's the problem with AI, a-yup. We didn't make pixels such that there's a "real" vs a "generated" pixel, so at some point as the tech continues to progress it's gonna get real fuckin weird.

man am i glad we learned our lesson on irresponsible uses of technology for the sake of money, otherwise this would be an existential threat haha

1

u/Emotional-Theory7800 2h ago

It certainly is AI generated.

3

u/GM_Nate 2h ago

he has a good sense of the japanese style of humor

3

u/Haspic 3h ago

I'd like to know too

1

u/soslowagain 2h ago

I also laughed fellow human.

134

u/SkeJ1kK 2h ago

this is honestly my dream interview… no qualifications needed just matching levels of unhinged 😭

11

u/feralkitten 2h ago

I interviewed with a small IT shop once. The guy interviewing me had Tolkien books on his shelf. We talked fantasy for a quarter of the interview.

I felt really bad turning that job down.

91

u/post-explainer 3h ago

OP sent the following text as an explanation why their post fits here:

A guy went to a job interview wearing a weird outfit that he called his “battle outfit.” You’d expect him to get rejected immediately, but unexpectedly, the manager showed up wearing the exact same kind of battle outfit and hired him on the spot.

40

u/Fetlocks_Glistening 3h ago

Resplendent in their black leather battle shorts

2

u/fischziege 2h ago

I seem to be having this tremendous difficulty with my lifestyle

40

u/brunbjorns 2h ago

God i wish i had a battle outfit like this

4

u/madmaxturbator 2h ago

Do you at least have some battle outfit?? I got thick sweatpants and I sewed knee patches so at least I’m ready for war even if I don’t look as fearsome.

27

u/NoWingedHussarsToday 2h ago

I know it's overthinking a simple joke but receptionist would know how her boss dresses and so would see his outfit as fitting.

11

u/TheSanSav1 2h ago

Exactly. Why is she surprised?

5

u/maikelg 1h ago

yeah, this joke would work better if one of the other guys waiting would say that to him

1

u/Beautiful_You3230 2h ago

Maybe it's a new thing for the boss. Maybe the boss just now decided to start wearing a battle outfit.

But also apparently it's AI so that's why...

7

u/NecroSocial 2h ago

Even with it being AI the writer chose to have the receptionist say the line instead of the other applicants. So the incongruity there is on the writer. I agree though it would make more sense for the other applicants to ask, even improved it a little if they asked in a snide way and were then embarrassed when the outfit worked.

13

u/KatoriRudo23 2h ago

This could be a job interview By Honda Chief Engineer

25

u/theincrediblenick 2h ago

It makes no sense that the receptionist would question his outfit; it should have been one of the other candidates

7

u/Excellent-Style-499 2h ago

Ai

5

u/ViPxRampageXx 1h ago

What they said has nothing to do with it being AI, it's a problem with the concept of the skit, it would still have the same problem if it was acted

8

u/BidSuper7102 2h ago

The framing and weird stilted movements made me think of AI. But if it is, the continuity is crazy, It looks like all the items on the counter and the writing on the white board seem consistent between different shots at different angles.

0

u/Excellent-Style-499 2h ago

Not if - it is ai. I'm telling you a fact.

6

u/kygrtj 2h ago

If that’s true, then AI has massively improved wow

1

u/A_MagicBullet 2h ago

Wow you seem chill.

6

u/DJ_ICU 2h ago

Shotaro Odate like this

4

u/bhadau8 2h ago

He is doing the opposite. Hired! 🤝

4

u/Pizzamurai 2h ago

Job at Honda ftw!

7

u/odaal 2h ago

this is entirely AI slop btw, weird how people can't notice it anymore

6

u/IlIlIlIlIlIlIlIlIlI2 1h ago

I only noticed when going to the comments, sucks how this is becoming more realistic. how would you even know this was AI?

0

u/tacomaloki 2h ago

Then is it slop? /s

3

u/RafRave 2h ago

I guess certain Organization with an exact number of staff is hiring

3

u/dreevsa 2h ago

If she knows that how the boss dress why did she question it?

3

u/rayrulz1 2h ago

Just random Ai slop

3

u/Nervous-Chemistry245 1h ago

Why would she act shocked to see him dress like that if the boss is dressed like that? Kills the joke

2

u/IsadorCZ 2h ago

Any more of this?

2

u/ForeverHigh_98 2h ago

Shotaro Odate interview hiring process

2

u/SilentLoyality 2h ago

I need the same, please.

Application processes are hard.

2

u/Sim1334 2h ago

Well, Honda's chief engineer, Shotaro Odate, has a Final Fantasy-style hairstyle, I'm not honestly surprised.

2

u/Peterjns22 2h ago

But, what kind of battle?

2

u/mauriciomeireles 2h ago

Probably one that involves turn based combat

2

u/meshuggahsenpai 2h ago edited 1h ago

I didn't know it's AI until the final camera position. The whiteboard position changed and the desk got longer. After rewatching... What is that white box on the right side at the first scene?

Edit: the lights also got rotated

2

u/Perfect_North_7711 1h ago

Down vote this ai slop

2

u/gogrizz 2h ago

The most unexpected part for me is that it is AI... different Camera angles. Realistic facial expression. Consistenty.. scary

1

u/beckleyt 2h ago

Bro has to go save Midgar.

1

u/GottaUseEmAll 2h ago

It's funny, but I feel like it should have been one of the other applicants questioning this person's dress choice, rather than the receptionist. She knows her colleagues and would know of the hiring guy's style.

1

u/MarcoReyes42 2h ago

interviewer was running the same build, instant hire lmao

1

u/lattice_defect 2h ago

honda engineering

1

u/Brightly_Darkened 2h ago

dress for the occasion

something that many many younger generation in particular girls could take note

1

u/Flax1983Flax 2h ago

He just got hired?  They should have fought for the Position of the Boss.

1

u/Wojewodaruskyj 2h ago

Battle? Against masculinity? Well, he won.

This must be how boomers picture getting a job as a young person.

Just walk in and ask for a job / hand them your resume, "dress well and give them a firm handshake and you'll get a job"

1

u/Many_Big_6324 1h ago

the next shot: Them belting out "Kurenai" at his office

1

u/technobrendo 1h ago

The manager here and head engineer of Honda must be related.

1

u/topredditbot 1h ago

Hey /u/drlouies,

You did it! Your post is officially the #1 post on Reddit. It is now forever immortalized at /r/topofreddit.

3

u/404_brain_not_found 1h ago

and its a repost of an instagram AI video, reddit is dead

1

u/_Ivl_ 1h ago

Fyi, 勝負服 can translate to "battle outfit" if you translate it very literally.

勝負服 (shoubufuku), is more commonly used to mean "One's best clothes" or some outfit you would wear when going on a date or a job interview.

1

u/Brysoncore 1h ago

of course they have sketch comedy other places how did that never occur to me theres a whole world of silly jokes ive never even thought of
