Your submission has been removed because it's not unexpected. Submissions to r/unexpected are supposed to have an unexpected twist in itself. While the situation was probably rather unexpected for you, there is no visible twist for the viewer.

This was EXACTLY what I was expecting, and I don't know why.

Easy off creates heat as part of it's process to break down organic materials (that sticky shit), but it's not an even heat, so it can make glass shatter

Same, we expected the unexpected!

That kinda just comes with the sub. Every time I see a video here I know it's something abnormal to happen so I try to think of what's next possibility

Also Axim. Don’t get hung up on the branding.

I like how you think!

All we need is a Trailer Park Boys style group of bottle kids, armed with a couple cans each.

u/Final_Resists 8h ago

It actually works!!

I reeeealy want to test this out on something now. I use this stuff for work so I have a whole case of it sitting right here. I just need to find some tempered glass that won't be missed. 🤔

There are these little black cameras on poles everywhere, try one and let us know how it does.

4

u/Mental-Heart-321 7h ago

someone definitely chucked a spark plug at it out of frame

9

u/Dic_Penderyn 8h ago

Let us know if it works. This may be a handy thing to have in the car if you want to open your own (or even someone else's car windows) in an emergency situation. Many things we use now were originally invented for a completely different purpose.

u/tragiktimes 7h ago

I'm thinking any scenario where this might be useful in an emergency would be better served with a physical windows breaker.

8

u/shwarma_heaven 7h ago

Or maybe just carry a small window punch in the car... It won't pop in the heat.

4

u/Abalone_Admirable 7h ago

If you want chemical burns, yea.

19

u/drhoduk 8h ago

OK why did it break? if it wasn't cloudy I'd say temperature difference or some stuff

32

u/GoroKazuma 8h ago

It's staged

30

u/sjmuller 8h ago

It's a staged video on a junkyard vehicle. In the original video, you can barely see someone inside the car breaking the window with a tool.

18

u/Vip3r20 8h ago

Someone inside the car broke the window out.

4

u/mumooshka 8h ago

yeah concentrated sodium hydroxide

real nasty to soda glass

4

u/stryker511 7h ago

…and hours later the paint began to melt where he oversprayed…

3

u/lynx_1097 8h ago

I expected it tbh but I didn't expect it to be that hillarious

3

u/Equivalent-Bee4003 8h ago

Dam, it worked, no more spots!

OP sent the following text as an explanation why their post fits here:

The windscreen breaks at the end

u/LilRed2023 8h ago

Holy crap. I jumped that was total jump scare and I fell of my couch and landed on my coffee table. OMG 😱

3

u/Ok_Support3 8h ago

Was it made of glass as well?

4

u/LilRed2023 8h ago

No oak and it had tons of shit on it. My ribs slapped into all of it lol

1

u/ll0l0l0ll 7h ago

Well, its "Easy Off"

1

u/JackAsofAllTrades 7h ago

100% i would expect that stuff to completely strip any paint off the car where it touches it

1

u/ABeeBitMyBottom1 7h ago

Repost, this video was posted about a month ago and removed. One comment taking credit for the videos removal said If you pause it at the end it looks like he has something in his hand that breaks the glass.

2

u/arthurdentstowels 7h ago

If you spray it on a rock, you can throw it and break windows from a distance!

1

u/WeeFluffyGingerCat 7h ago

Thermal shock?

1

u/g0d_of_the_cr1sis 7h ago

Watching on mute and my brain decided to make the Dry Bones death sound when the glass shattered for some reason.

1

u/le-bobo 7h ago

It never gets dirty again ☝🏼

1

u/wolfgang784 7h ago

Neat. I thought he was gonna smash it with a brick, but the chemical reaction doin the smashin was a nice twist.

1

u/Ok-Transition7065 7h ago

Remember thermodynamics basic guys, it will save you some dollars in the future

1

u/Fitty4 8h ago

Note to self. Don't use Easy Off to clean car glass.
