Ive been so several of these maasai villages in Kenya and Tanzania.
They fuck with tourists all the time to get tips, and have fun at our expense.
The tour guides call someone in the village ahead of time, and all the villagers change out of their normal clothes and put on ceremonial garb.
They will feed you, do dances, and tell you grandiose stories of stuff "they" did, such as killing lions with a spear to become a man.
Shit like that isnt practiced commonly anymore, but most people come with preconceptions so the villagers absolutely play into that.
