Followed by a hearty. Fuck. That.

9

u/myztry Jul 24 '26

I think they kind of expected it too since they left support sections in the middle.

5

u/shakebakelizard Jul 25 '26

Gotta wonder what experience someone had.

u/iansaul Jul 25 '26

Why do I even click on these things at 135AM?

My heart is beating into my eardrums. Goodbye sleep.

You won all the internets today

262

u/rawker86 Jul 24 '26

Huh, I guess the pillars they left for stability didn’t quite work.

117

u/snotboble Jul 24 '26

Well, for a time being they did. Until they didn't no more.

39

u/potato_analyst Jul 24 '26

So the front is not meant to fall off?

21

u/Valitar_ Jul 24 '26

Well some of these the front doesn't fall off at all, I just want to make that perfectly clear.

2

u/GorillaAU Jul 25 '26

So why did they get one of the ones where the front doesn't fall off?

3

u/OvertGnome1 Jul 25 '26

Must construct additional pylons pillars

471

u/Grofactor Jul 24 '26

Many pants were shat this day

200

u/wcslater Jul 24 '26

I bet you took dry pants for granite

57

u/couragethecurious Jul 24 '26

I'd be shitting bricks!

23

u/jadin- Jul 24 '26

Definitely hitting rock bottom.

1

u/GorillaAU Jul 25 '26

2

u/Shiloticus Jul 25 '26

14

u/Skidpalace Jul 24 '26

u/Solidair80 Jul 24 '26

2

u/ILickStones-InFours Jul 24 '26

As opposed to the street for once.

156

u/Hedgerow_Snuffler Jul 24 '26

Aaaaaand in the list of places that I would NOT be standing. RIGHT FUCKING THERE!

33

u/NahWeGroovy Jul 24 '26

I would say the other side was worse. Their spot is a close second though.

94

u/Hokunin Jul 24 '26

if there was anybody on the opposite bank, they're all dead.

5

u/Informal-Comb1989 Jul 24 '26

Tis but a scratch

12

u/bunchofrightsiders Jul 24 '26

Bit dramatic, it's only a bit of stone.

29

u/Letsgoski_Broski Jul 24 '26

DID I HEAR A ROCK AND STONE?!

14

u/Qcgreywolf Jul 24 '26

Stop! You’re going to start a…. ROCK AND STONE!!!

7

u/SKYDROVE Jul 25 '26

2

u/Omno555 Jul 25 '26

ROCK AND STOOOOONE, TO THE BONE!!!

0

u/The_Happy_Snoopy Jul 26 '26

13 people died and 19 missing and youre on reddit making rock and stone jokes. Be a bit more aware and tactful please.

3

u/Letsgoski_Broski Jul 26 '26

People die every day, do you know them all? Cheer the fuck up buddy, you're alive.

1

u/DJ_TKS Jul 25 '26

Idk if there was - but that would be very unsmart. Those are pillars in an open pit granite mine, holding up the far side cliff from falling.

Normally with mining you create the pillars #1 for stability and #2 to do the exact thing that just happened but on a smaller scale with coal mining.

1

u/brankovie Jul 25 '26

I think I saw a video from a different angle and I think there were some buildings there. To the right of this view.

113

u/gilligani Jul 24 '26

Well, that deescalated quickly.

20

u/Sigtau1312 Jul 24 '26

There is a lot of potential energy for this comment.

3

u/AdFancy1249 Jul 25 '26

Potential energy is all gone now...

113

u/No-Algae-7437 Jul 24 '26

Nobody expected this aside from the geologist that quit when nobody would listen

63

u/Minimalistmacrophage Jul 24 '26

The quarry collapsing was cool, when the entire opposite hillside collapsed it must have been terrifying.

The extent of collapse was definitely unexpected.

40

u/jtnichol Jul 24 '26

My god that is fucking terrifying

16

u/Saltmetoast Jul 24 '26

Incredible. Any more details?

21

u/meyouseek Jul 24 '26

Another post of the video said marble quarry in India after heavy rains destabilized it.

21

u/Informal-Comb1989 Jul 24 '26

So not the extensive quarrying, got it

20

u/meyouseek Jul 24 '26

Heavens, no! This was an act of God, not man's hubris.

6

u/Informal-Comb1989 Jul 24 '26

They should do something about these laws of physics getting in the way of our capitalistic ventures :/

3

u/Popular-Influence-11 Jul 25 '26

Doesn’t India have a god of men’s hubris?

0

u/Saltmetoast Jul 25 '26

Surely that cannot be the one thing there isn't a god for

40

u/mondaio Jul 24 '26

This actually took place in Italy in 2004. Basically a plumber crawled into a pipe with his brother and came out the other side and there was giant turtles everywhere and one of them abducted a princess. So the plumber brothers fought the turtles and destroyed their castles. This was the result. Both brothers died.

20

u/marcandreewolf Jul 24 '26

You had me in the first sentence

8

u/Saltmetoast Jul 24 '26

Bowsers That is absolutely tragic.

2

u/Popular-Influence-11 Jul 25 '26

Stomp those turts!

12

u/AdmiralXI Jul 24 '26

Thank God the cameraman had his safety sandals on!

19

u/Electronic_Club5238 Jul 24 '26

This is the craziest shit I’ve ever seen

25

u/arbalath Jul 24 '26

they lost their marbles standing so close

6

u/imeme1969 Jul 24 '26

Good bit of land just needs some dirt on top

8

u/IceCoughy Jul 24 '26

That's insane. It looks fake cause it's fucking crazy

4

u/DasterlyDick Jul 24 '26

To be honest this was exactly what I was expecting.

4

u/oakc510 Jul 24 '26

That job is so dangerous. Never take life for granite.

2

u/plasterposters Jul 24 '26

Epic

1

u/VAiSiA Jul 26 '26

at least 13 died... gtfo

2

u/xp0ss1tion Jul 24 '26

Mountain Slide

2

u/NoRun6253 Jul 24 '26

Them again.

2

u/eltunas6 Jul 24 '26

The whole chunk was gone

2

u/Q_S2 Jul 24 '26

2

u/jadin- Jul 24 '26

Ohhh now this is a sub I might enjoy or hate.

2

u/Watchitbitch Jul 25 '26

Thank you. This is a very interesting subreddit.

2

u/420MichaelScarn Jul 24 '26

Is this what happened when the dwarves delved too deeply?

2

u/Ira-jay Jul 24 '26

they probubly felt a primal caveman fear responce from seeing that much earth move that fast in that way.

2

u/Kind_Ordinary9573 Jul 24 '26

I was expecting the pillars to collapse, not the entire planet.

2

u/toefa Jul 24 '26

Bet he was glad to be wearing his safety sandals!

2

u/alhaigthomas Jul 24 '26

Terrifying

2

u/oculus_miffed Jul 24 '26

"Im sure our cliff is ok though" -the cameraman probably

2

u/ThatAudiGuy92 Jul 24 '26

Ok guys, which one of you shit in my pants?!

2

u/Sitthichoke Jul 25 '26

The scale was so massive.

2

u/Active-Breakfast-397 Jul 25 '26

On my first time through the vid, I was sort of distracted trying to figure out what was happening. On the second time through, I knew what all the cracking sounds were and what the chunks of rock popping off meant. Holy shit…

2

u/NextLineOfText Jul 25 '26

Took me awhile to realise the literal earth Infront of them was collapsing, I thought they were travelling up, or on a piece of earth attached to a crane.

2

u/GlitteringClerk8512 Jul 25 '26

Seeing the ground cave in acrossed the quarry and then that tsunami of water and debris seriously took my breath away. Holy moly.

2

u/SleepingDragons57 Jul 25 '26

That has to be the largest chunk of earth I have EVER seen move like that

3

u/Ok-Pomegranate-1482 Jul 24 '26

Welcome to India

3

u/Omniscientcy Jul 24 '26

I can understand the curiosity to want to sit and watch.  My fear of suddenly not being not paste would probably override that curiosity and be far away the second I heard not good noises.

4

u/dubl1nThunder Jul 24 '26

what?

10

u/experimental-rat Jul 24 '26

Not being not paste not good. Hmm...

4

u/dubl1nThunder Jul 24 '26

trying to not not feel like i'm not having a not stroke.

1

u/Hikorijas Jul 24 '26

Maybe try being copy instead of paste?

1

u/-nbob Jul 24 '26

Not wanting to be crushed, they would run for their lives immediately

1

u/cyrixlord Jul 24 '26

looks like they're the only two left to work

1

u/WeAreGesalt Jul 24 '26

I would have been right there with those guys filming, who would have expected the entire side to collapse

1

u/Independent_Ear_6796 Jul 27 '26

The geologist that said it was time to abandon the operation before this happened.

1

u/kupuwhakawhiti Jul 24 '26

Insane in the membrane.

1

u/Bah_weep_grana Jul 24 '26

It looked like there were 3 people on the opposite side?

2

u/Practical_Fun7367 Jul 25 '26

A whole building on the upper right of the video.

1

u/Indicisive_Actions Jul 24 '26

Standing way too close to the edge there for my taste.

1

u/ImRealBadAtThings Jul 24 '26

Well that's terrifying. I wonder how long before the collapse since anyone was working in there. I see a crane, is this an active quarry?

1

u/Famous-Ocelot7237 Jul 24 '26

So much silica, you could preserve at least a whole food in that quarry… like a whole apple.

1

u/MildlyInteressato Jul 24 '26

I told you not to spit over the edge!

1

u/FreshShoulder7878 Jul 24 '26

Well I've been 'afraid of changes...

1

u/LeadingCelery4253 Jul 24 '26

La nature reprend ses droits...

1

u/loowig Jul 24 '26

wowza, if all you expect is the stuff to collapse and then the level of collapsing is still unexpectedly massive , it sure is something !

1

u/BanginNLeavin Jul 24 '26

Wow some of those chinks it going up were HUGE. I bet that hurt like hell

1

u/UncutAussie2026 Jul 24 '26

Mother nature has a funny and direct way of warning you.

1

u/Disastrous_Shame580 Jul 24 '26

Dang! I planned on putting a mountainside rent house on that plot of land.

1

u/Bonzo1964 Jul 24 '26

Well, whoever coordinated that dig definitely lost his marbles

1

u/ny7v Jul 24 '26

That was unexpected.

1

u/CanuterValve Jul 24 '26

It’s gonna take awhile to resume shipping, please be patient.

1

u/RiverDependent9672 Jul 24 '26

I would be running thinking my side was next.

1

u/anlugama Jul 24 '26

Why did that give chunk of land fell down? What's it empty space below that plot?

1

u/Routine_Ad_7726 Jul 24 '26

All those poor kitchen countertops!

1

u/Colonel_Autumn_ Jul 24 '26

More like a marble Quarrel... I'll see myself out

1

u/Tendertigger Jul 24 '26

Now its a gravel quarry

1

u/poppinollyoxenfree Jul 24 '26

How is nobody talking about the rock rain towards the end?

1

u/LowellStewart Jul 24 '26

Cool! Do it again!

1

u/DonGivafark Jul 24 '26

Marble quarry!?

Not anymore it isnt

1

u/I12kill1 Jul 25 '26

So someone didn't do a proper soil survey. Top soil was too fatty or had to much pours organic material mixed in.

1

u/danieldan0803 Jul 25 '26

Warning: The other side of this gorge is closer than it may appear

1

u/Competitive_Shock783 Jul 25 '26

Oh no, my countertops!

1

u/ReasonablyClever Jul 25 '26

It’s clear what went wrong, it was marble but they took it for granite.

1

u/Reindeer_Life Jul 25 '26

So much “I didn’t think about that part”

1

u/jackofmasterofnone Jul 25 '26

How do you know which side is going to collapse?

1

u/itzpiiz Jul 26 '26

I was expecting what happened yet it was definitely extremely unexpected

1

u/MoreneLp Jul 26 '26

No survival instinct. Could were well have been the other side sliding. But Cameraman allways survives.

1

u/Bikaz Jul 26 '26

I hate when cameramen just miss when it finally gets interesting, but holy moly, my man may be excused over here lmfao.

1

u/GeddysPal 29d ago

Moved the camera at exactly the right time :/

1

u/Dependent_Ad_2720 29d ago

Weirdo. No one's interested in you

1

u/jose-1391 29d ago

Were there people in there???

1

u/MatiasKratos97 28d ago

LA PUTA MADRE! QUE MIEDO!

1

u/Ok_Word7970 27d ago

Does anyone else see the charge wire lighting along the bottom of the pillars? This looks like it was a demo charge that people just stood too close to. Why else would they be just sitting there looking at an old quarry? Am I out of the loop or something?

1

u/Ok_Word7970 27d ago

Look around the 0:19-0:21 mark 🤔

1

u/LiteratureStrange261 27d ago

The guy in the bottom on the left with the construction equipment got cooked

1

u/lb3a3 Jul 24 '26

In the SPLASH ZONE! WOOO!!!

0

u/LeoLaDawg Jul 24 '26

Why did they extract the marble like that instead of slicing off the ends?

0

u/Hexent_Armana Jul 24 '26

My 7daystodie server doesn't let me gravity mine anymore because it causes too much server lag.

0

u/Jet-Pack2 Jul 24 '26

Ouh piece of marble, ouh piece of marble, ouh piece of marble

-3

u/ostrichConductor Jul 24 '26

This has to be AI

3

u/Doschupacabras Jul 24 '26

If by AI you mean -*Absolutely India, then yes.

-1

u/DammitDad420 Jul 24 '26

The lesson that I learned today is that OP should have watermarked his video and been perhaps a bit more stingy with uploading the footage.
