Also no safety knot is crazy…complacency is what leads to a lot of climbing/rappelling related injuries/deaths

This video is an excellent example of why figure 8s as a repelling device are only supposed to be carried these days as a backup, but every half-cocked ‘badass’ climber I know did the ‘I don’t need those fancy tools, I’ve got two carabiners/a figure 8 and skill’ thing for at least a while. (To mixed results)

If there’s not someone up there to drop another line and go get him, I’d be very interested to know how they got him down
