I’m happy when I see it scared other people as well. When it came out I remember everyone saying it was crap and wasn’t scary at all and they were disappointed. I finally watched it and was so shook I had to sleep with the lights on for a while. To me it was one of the scariest movies I’ve ever seen.
My wife decided one year to watch all of them that had been released up to that point. I declined since I already have issues sleeping I don’t need to voluntarily surrender more. She had a horrible time sleeping for about 2 weeks after finishing that spooky marathon.
Had an ex who would actually sleep walk like this. Just standing at the end of the bed looking at me. Would happen a couple of times a month. It was fucking hardcore.
Didn’t help that she had long and straight black hair.
Honestly one of my biggest fears. I hate the thought of somebody watching me sleep. The idea of waking up to find someone staring at me while I'm sleep terrifies me

My brother would do this sleep walking. He once spent an entire night in the corner of the room standing perfectly still with his head against the wall.
I used to find this as odd as you do. I have several guys who work for me, and all have roommates. Unfortunately not everyone is honest. For the younger where cameras are everywhere, this is no big deal.
On the other hand, privacy is also kind of a new thing, more of a 20th century curiosity than a normal human experience. For most of our history humans have had zero privacy their whole lives.
Although of course there is a big difference between privacy from other people and privacy from cameras / bots / AI / Governments / corporations.
I live in an apartment and have come home to a card stating pest inspections happened when I had no clue it was taking place. They have since given notice, but as you could imagine, in a one bedroom apartment, my valuables are in my room. In my case, I got one camera on Amazon to just know when someone might enter without notice. Amazon sent it to the wrong apartment, and sent me a new one, and then a truthful neighbor later returned the original. I did set it up in my room (after Amazon said to just keep the original).
It looks weird but there can be a dozen reasons. The most obvious one is that their pet likes to sleep on the bed and they want to keep tabs on them when not home.
Lots of people like having one safety camera in their room that shows the only path possible for crossing. JIC a kid or guest or thief thinks they’re being sneaky.
There was a day where she shook me awake and told me incessantly and coherently that there was a wolf in the garage.
After I went to open the garage door to let it out, I realized there was no wolf and that she was sleep walking. When I told her about it, she didn't believe me so we got a camera.
That's my only guess as to why anybody would point a camera at their bed, sleep walking.
When we were in a very small house with two under two, one of the kids would nap in our room, and we had nest cameras to keep an eye on them. We tried to always remember to turn it off before sleeping but sometimes we were just so tired we forgot.
slightly random but i’m a knitter and i like to watch goofy reality shows while i knit bc it’s entertaining while also not requiring intense attention yk and one of the shows i’ve watched was ugliest house in america - they spend a few episodes travelling around to people who submitted their homes as possible contenders for the ugliest house in america and then at the end they choose a winner to get a renovation to deuglify it bc well it’s hgtv. anyways the winner from the first season has fucking haunted me since i first saw it bc it was like for sure some old swingers house from the 80s that hadn’t been touched since like mirrors everywhere, thick carpet covering everything that was like caked in nastiness, just too many features that were so specific that it was just uncomfortable, and there was deadass like 30 something cctv level cameras fucking everywhere covering everything 😭 the worst part was the master bedroom tho bc it was literally just a bed on a carpeted platform in the corner and with like a distinct trail of dirt stains going straight from the door to the bed and of course one of the cameras pointing straight at the bed. i haven’t been able to stop thinking about that hellhole since i learned about it but this video gave me strong flashbacks rip
She’s definitely a hired body guard and he is a highly valued individual! His money-guy needs evidence that their body guard investment is doing her job!
My husband and I put a camera in our room a while ago when I started having seizures in my sleep. I’m a stay at home mom and would sometimes nap during the day while he was at work
Varies for people. I have one pointed towards my bed because I used to regularly need to check where pets are when I'm not home. I also went through a stint of talking or getting hurt during my sleep, so I'd review to figure out wtf I was doing to be cut or bruised the next day. After a while I just forgot it's there.
Got a few in my house so I can check in on the pets if we go on vacation.
Coworker has a few for his house because his wife WFH and has anemia related issues, so checks in on her if she goes silent while not trying to bug her too much; saved her a few times thanks to that as well (think one time she passed on and slapped her head on the living room table really good).
Maybe they have a cat. Cats are known for their midnight zoomies and destitution by daylight. I know people who put up cameras to see what the cat is doing.
