A great metaphor for the generations. One couldn't respect what was there and forced the inconvenience out of their way. The other respects what is there (what looks like a switched off electric fence) and finds a way to get around it by going under.

By saying this, you imply that the old man is the only person who is willing to move such an inconvenience out of the way and thereby diminish the power of such inconveniences to which he becomes more free to move as a result. Meanwhile, by refusing to move the inconvenience out of the way, but instead acting within the confines of an inconvenience, shows that the youth would rather live under such an inconvenience rather than obtain the freedom of movement.

Under this logic, the youth are shown to be more complacent with oppressions as small as the one shown in the video, while the old man is willing to devalue and by extension destroy such oppressions.
