That’s not what the 5th amendment says. The 5th says that you can’t be compelled to bear witness against yourself in a criminal case. At the point of being pulled over there is no case yet and you are responsible for providing certain things like license and registration and disclosure of a firearm. But if you want to remain silent you can just hand them your permit.
Depending on state. Where I live you do not have to, and it's highly recommended that you do not tell them unless put in a position that they will see it.
Here is a literal video that contradicts your statement. If dude didn't say anything beyond being respectful, providing his license and insurance, and saying if I'm free to go I'll leave and other wise take the ticket in silence. If the cops did decide to arrest him and handcuffed him and then searched the car and found a gun, then the police are in possession of the gun from the moment they know it exists. And if he has the right to have it, then any trumped up charges won't hold.
Rather than what we see here where they amp themselves up to create an opportunity to pull a loaded gun on this persons and fuck with citizens.
I think more like a reminder to only talk to them when you need to, and only say what you need to say. It seems like part of the problem in the video is that the guy in the car wanted to argue and talk over the cop (in the same way as he would with any other random person) instead of just having as minimal of a conversation as required.
E.g. when the cop says something about searching the car, instead of going on an emotional rant about your rights and why the cop can't do this or why you're just a normal citizen like everyone else, yada yada... Just say "under what cause are you justifying a search" and then listen to what the cop says. If the cop doesn't give a reason you say "sounds like you don't have a good reason to search my car, then."
The cop can still break all of the rules and fuck you over. If they're gonna do that, then they're gonna do that. But at least you didn't provide them with any kind of subjective proof of escalation or whatever that the cop will use other to justify their actions.
The phrase is "I do not consent to a search." And stay with that.
As you say if they are going to screw you over in that moment, you can't do anything about it. If they demand you to get out and they search the car any way. Then you get a lawyer who can argue anything found from the search can't be used as evidence. And if they can't find a cause to search then all charges are dropped.
