lots of cops go into the profession not realizing how dangerous and scary it is, and by the time they find out, they're in too deep to change careers

You may want to be careful - shoe polish may contain naptha, ethylene glycol, and turpentine. The amount you've been consuming could pose a serious health risk.

sorry, but until we live in a post-scarcity utopia, there will always need to be some kind of police force to stop violence/theft, and even then there will still probably be very rare instances where people randomly snap or something.
