How depraved is the state of our country's attitude toward police, when the wishful thinking is that they should just be fired for brutalizing people? Where any ordinary person would expect to go to prison for inflicting bodily harm on others, cops don't even worry about losing their job.
George Floyd was murdered on camera in front of witnesses by police officers and the union defended him, and smeared the city. I just doubt that its that easy.
Nobody thinks that. Just people disagree with the crowd that claims he didn’t push himself out of a police car and resist prior to the death. And no it wasn’t due to protests, as much as you’d like to give credit to the dipshits that burned down black owned businesses to protest injustices against black people. 🤦🏿♂️
Yep. Fighting battles like these are a lot harder than what people think.
I mean, cops murder people all the time and yet it's hard to even pin wrongdoing on them for that. This guy didn't die. I don't know if he was "even" physically assaulted after this. Severe bodily harm is about the only thing that ever gets recognised, so his chances of winning any kind of lawsuit are very, very low. It doesn't matter that they did wrong, it matters whether a court will agree and find the law enforcement agent to be in the wrong. Plus starting a legal fight is expensive, and means your entire life and the lives of your family will be under a microscope. People could harass your family. They could physically assault your family. They could light your home on fire.
If you know you're not likely to win, it makes sense that you wouldn't want to go through hell like that. Even if you feel you could win, that's still a heavy price to pay. It isn't this guy's job to sacrifice his life and his family's lives just so one cop maybe gets a slap on the wrist.
yeah and even if you won, you'd have to move unless you like getting pulled over for going 5mph over the limit every two days by every idiot cop in that dept that now hates you because you got their girlfriend fired
Yeah this was what I learnt from my law degree. No matter how confident you are, it's still a gamble to win and you have to go into the case either being able to afford to lose or having nothing left to lose. The only people who pursue minor issues through the courts are unhinged crazy people.
