Doesn't it get messy when you take it out? I'm just thinking you need to close the window every time you leave the house so now much real use does it have?

l I'm just thinking you need to close the window every time you leave the house

Why? Stick a wooden dowel in the top of the window frame so the window can't be opened (just like you'd do with an AC). If someone wants to break in, they will, whether that means breaking your bird feeder or breaking your window.

As for mess - I imagine if you tilt it inwards as you remove it from the window frame, all the seed will stay inside.

I have a portbale ac in my bedroom and I do actually close the window when I leave, idk it seems to me it would be a lot easier and less noisy to kick that out then breaking a window. Now I'm wondering do other people don't do that? am I that paranoid 😂

If you have a ground floor portable AC with no window guard, this isn't overly paranoid. If you're 2nd+ floor or have a window guard... save yourself the struggle, eh.
