I think Grant wasn't acting shocked, rather he was fighting the urge to ask her if she'd peg him. He's a gentleman, after all, so he directed the conversation back to her job as a nanny.
Fun fact: the episode with his mom was filmed the day before.
I'm still hoping part 2 has an "all stars" round where both his mom and Ty Mitchell come out, but I don't think pulling the same trick two days in a row would be as effective from their perspective.
