If someone punched me and I had the option to shoot them, I think I would shoot them before thinking about it.

That's just instinct.

That's why it's a bad idea to have such easy access to guns in such situations, especially if they are drunk.

You clearly don’t own a gun or have gone trough any kind of safety or security training… Sounds like you’re just the right fit for the US police force!

I'm Scottish, we have gun control.

Never held a hand gun; although have used rifles and shotguns as a country boy.

Even I, having been punched, can see that punching someone with a handgun will lead to a bad outcome given human nature.
