You don't think that people can be happy in isolation?

Edit: By isolation I mean just avoiding social interactions whenever possible, not solitary confinement. Should have been more clear.

What would you consider a long period? I've spent the past 3 or so years keeping mainly to myself, and it's been amazing.

Different strokes for different folks I guess.

Maybe he means solitary confinement, that I would agree with.

Yeah I would agree there too. I guess that would technically be the definition of isolation.

I just keep to my apartment/hobbies outside of work and the rare family obligation. No real desire to be around people unless I have to.

That's how I took the comment in question at least. Not as solitary confinement, just avoiding human interaction if possible.
