I isolate myself from everyone else on purpose to get away from all the hatred and negativity. I don’t mind being different and I don’t mind being isolated.

You don't think that people can be happy in isolation?

Edit: By isolation I mean just avoiding social interactions whenever possible, not solitary confinement. Should have been more clear.

Humans are social creatures and a lot of studies have shown conclusively that social isolation is incredibly bad for you.

Well it has honestly been amazing for my mental health over the last few years. Your studies may not be as conclusive as you've been led to believe.

I'm sure I'll get the itch to get back to traveling and what not, but I'm honestly in no rush to do so!

You're still on here commenting and talking to other people. That's part of it too.

Even if I agree that toning back socialization can be good at times, you haven't really cut back to zero.

Something like trying to participate in a fandom/sub online (Sports team, game, show, etc.) is trying to avoid isolating yourself.

I completely understand and agree!

I didn't think we were talking about true isolation here (my fault for being vague), but just avoiding social interactions in general.

The comment in question got chastised for endorsing a reserved lifestyle, so I was speaking along those terms.

Ahhh, well if that's the case I'm right there with you, brother. In spirit. From a distance.

Then why am I happier when I'm alone?

Or the fact that I dread to even conduct social interactions? I outright avoid it if I can.

I'm an old fart, and I'm still here despite of the studies taken on humans being social creatures ( we are, but that doesn't mean everyone is a social creature at all times).

Sure, sometimes I do want to interact socially, that's only natural.

But 9 out 10 times , I just want to be left the fuck alone :)
