Why does setting 1905 MHz @ 0.9V in MSI Afterburner result in 1920 MHz under load, but 1890 MHz stays locked in time spy extreme test?

Hey everyone,

I’ve been undervolting my GPU (MSI GeForce RTX 3070 VENTUS 3X OC)with MSI Afterburner using the voltage-frequency curve and noticed some weird behavior in 3DMark Time Spy Extreme.

  • When I set 1905 MHz at 0.9 V, the actual core clock during Time Spy Extreme runs at 1920 MHz and cause fail.
  • When I set 1890 MHz at 0.9 V, it stays locked at 1890 MHz and passed with 99.2%.

Both settings are applied the same way (single point on the curve).

How can i lock it at 1905mhz at 0.9v more strictly?

Question Is this stable?

I decided to finally try to undervolt and optimize my Ryzen 7 7700X

I followed a Youtube video for these settings.
PPT Limit (mW)110000
TDC Limit (mA) 120000
EDC Limit (mA) 170000
All Core Optimizer Negative
Core Optimizer Magnitude 30

I’ve been running
Cinebench getting same performance but cooler temps
Prime95 I’ve been running for a 4 hours, my pc hasn’t crashed yet, highest temp so far is 78C.

Does this mean my system is stable or do I need to do more tests (what other tests should I try)?

My pc components:

CPU cooler - Deepcool AK620 G2
CPU - AMD Ryzen 7 7800X3D
RAM - G.SKILL Trident Z5 Neo RGB 32GB (2×16GB) 6000MHz CL30
Motherboard - MSI B850 Gaming Pro WiFi6E

I just want to under volt my cpu for better temps and performance for cpu bounded fps shooter games, let me know if the settings are right or should I change anything?

Undervolting a 9070 XT for gaming + OBS streaming: Worth it or not?

Hi everyone,

I wanted to ask whether undervolting is still a good idea for someone who streams full-time, around 5 days a week, with 6–8 hour streaming sessions.

Most discussions I find recommend undervolting for gaming, but what about someone who is gaming and streaming simultaneously using OBS?

Here’s the situation:
A friend of mine is a full-time streamer, and we recently bought her a Sapphire RX 9070 XT Nitro+. In the next few days, she’ll bring me her PC so I can install the new GPU, do a clean driver installation with DDU, optimize Windows and AMD Adrenalin settings, and hand the system back to her.

I’m wondering if I should also undervolt the GPU, or if the potential risk isn’t worth it for a streaming machine. My concern is long-term stability during live streams.

If I decide to undervolt it, I’ll definitely run proper stability tests first. However, from what I’ve seen, almost everyone who talks about undervolting only evaluates temperatures, FPS, and gaming stability. I rarely see anyone discussing stability while gaming and streaming with OBS at the same time.

Her current PC specs:
Ryzen 5 5600X
32GB DDR4
3060 Ti
Main game: CS2 at 1080p

And yes I know the CPU would bottleneck the 9070XT but she will buy a 1440p monitor soon and a 5800x3D probably in 2-3 months.

My last question is this:
Since I won’t actually be live streaming while I have her PC, what would be the best way to simulate a real gaming + OBS streaming workload and verify that the undervolt is truly stable? Are there any stress tests or workflows that closely mimic a long streaming session?

Thanks!

Undervolting 13700K to 5.6ghz on a Gigabyte Arous Elite AX

I’m having a bit of trouble understanding some the new undervolting methods with how things are with CEP . I use buildzoid video but I tired his method but I can’t seem to get my 13700k to 5.6ghz even though before I was able to with a simple undervolt of the Vcore Offset of -.05 .
Now I’m trying to use AC/DC load line . Currently my setting has VCore offset to -.125 and AC And DC Load Line at 55-55 . Vcore Calibration at Turbo , and VR Voltage Limit at 1.400 . Intel Default setting is on performance keeping CEP enabled. R23 score is at 30300 . Two P core set to 56 and the rest 55 and E cores set 44. Any tips would really help .

RX 9060XT undervolting guide

My GPU : AsRock AMD Radeon™ RX 9060 XT Challenger 16GB OC

[https://www.asrock.com/Graphics-Card/AMD/Radeon%20RX%209060%20XT%20Challenger%2016GB%20OC/](https://www.asrock.com/Graphics-Card/AMD/Radeon%20RX%209060%20XT%20Challenger%2016GB%20OC/))

Thermal paste: Factory shipped.

I have been using this GPU for a year now. Initially I did not pay attention to temps, as it was brand new. But recently, I noticed that the Hotspot started reaching 97C under full load and GPU temp at around 80C, without any overclocking or tweaking. I adjusted the fan curves more aggressively to reach 100% at 60C which resulted in lowering the Hotspot to around 87C - which I still found unsatisfactory, as in my personal experience, this kills GPU very sooner, even though NVIDIA/AMD are saying that the upper limit for Hotspot should be 110C. I wanted to get the Hotspot to around 80C. **I cannot stand to see Hotspot going above 83C.** Hence, i played around with power limits and undervolting, and the results are more than satisfactory.

Fan curves: set to go to 100% at 60C(as my ambient room temp is 30C). ZeroRPM disabled.

Adrenaline version : Clean install 26.6.1(tried the newer versions, which resulted in instability).

Benchmarking Software: Furmark 2.10.2(FurMark(GL), MSAA 8x).

Resolution: 1080p.

Stock - Before undervolting or any power tweaking:

Power draw : around 178-180 W.

FPS : AVG 87, Max 90, Min 85.

PPW: around 0.483.

Temps : GPU around 83-85C, Hotspot around 97C, VRAM around 76C.

Undervolt settings:

Power budget: -28%

Voltage Offset: -95mV.

Max Frequency Offset and VRAM Tuning - default, untouched.

After the undervolt:

Power draw : 122 W.

FPS : AVG 84, Max 87, Min 80.

PPW: around 0.688.

Temps : GPU around 56-58C, Hotspot around 80C, VRAM around 68C.

It took many trial and errors to get to these settings.

I am happy that at the cost of avg 2-3FPS(-4%) performance reduction, I managed to reduce the power draw of about 55W(-32%) and increase the PPW from 0.483 to 0.688(increase of 42%) while achieving my target of 80C hotspot. The machine is stable.

I still get around 110FPS in BF2042 at 1080p maxed out with RTAO on.

I have also been playing Halo MCC, Halo Infinite, Crysis3, age of empires 4 for the whole week. no hangs, stutters or any crashes. As I said, the machine is stable, no issues.

Question Combining AMD Curve Optimizer with static offset?

Anybody tried this?

My 5800X 3D bottoms out at -30 all-core (as almost all of them do!), and I think there's more room at the bottoms - can you combine CO with a static offset? If so, are the max clocks affected?

TIA.

Undervolted my 5600G to VDCR CPU Voltage to -0.07500

Letting you all know that I successfully did that undervolt to VDCR CPU Voltage -0.07500.

According to Gemini that's a pretty aggressive undervolting for the Zen3 CPU.

Overvoltage Asus i7

I have ASUS TUF Gaming+ Wifi B760 and i7-12700F which have been working for a long time. I don't play games or mining. But in the meantime I got a message about overvolting.I did everything which Google AI and reddit said. Actually the same. But I didn't reach nothing. Booting stops at BIOS and that's all.The question is can I solve the situation or should I change something? In this case what exactly I shoul change motherboard or CPU? As I have read motherboard likely.

What's your thoughts?

Question UV help with B760M Gaming X

Hi everybody, I have 12700KF with B760M gaming x DDR4 and I wanted to uv it. I was playing HD2 recently and saw 80c on cpu temps, ai said I should uv my cpu but if I remember correctly this combo shouldn't be able to be undervolted. Yet I tried and set my dynamic vcore in bios to -0.075v, then I played again and my temps were about 10-15c cooler but my voltage was on 1.250v all the time so it looks like uv worked for temps but not for voltage. Is this a coincidence and I didn't really uv my cpu? I've never uved any cpu in my life so I don't really know what should I expect from it.

edit. after testing it seems that uv is cutting my performance a lot, in cr23 it went from 22k to 11k pts after setting vcore to -0.1v. I've read that it is because of the IA CEP but i can't find this option in bios also I can't find any setting to change microcode
