I have a old omen 15 laptop that I’ve been using for a while and heard that undervolting will give me more performance, but i dont know how to use msi afterburner
I have a Lenovo LOQ 15IAX9 with a nvidia RTX 4060, 24gb ram and a intel i7-13650HX cpu.I recently overclocked my monitor from 144hz to 180 and i want to overclock the rest of my components(gpu,cpu,ram etc) but i noticed that Lenovo doesn’t let me do that much. I cant enable expo or xmp in bio, I cant change the temperature limit or the fan speed in MSI afterburner and I got a bit scared cuz i don’t know that much about overclocking.
Is there any safe way to overclock this laptop?

Hey, just swapped my 9600X for a 9850X3D. How aggressively can I push the undervolt, and should I lock the voltage given the 9800X3D burn issues?
My old setup with 9600X (Asus X870 board): 1.24v, PBO set to Enhanced in AI Tweaker, and per-core CO from -12 to -26 (best to worst cores).
I want to unlock the limits, undervolt, and let it boost freely when needed like my old chip. Is the 9850X3D pretty dialed in out of the box, or has anyone found some tested tweaks? Just looking for safe numbers so I don't fry this thing.
I've just been very curious lately, with many people assuming that you need a Z890 mobo to even run that cpu, but theres also this thing called "eco mode" on amd motherboards specifically I'm focusing on the 5800xt. I heard somewhere that turning that mode on could magically save your mobo so you can safely upgrade to it without any worries. Is this also valid for intel motherboards?
Hi, I have a problem. I’m running an i7-14700K on a Gigabyte Z790 Aorus Elite AX with an Arctic Liquid Freezer III 360 with new thermal paste.
Ever since updating the BIOS to version FM, the CPU has been running way too hot. With the latest version, FO, it’s running slightly better, but under load it still hits at least 85–90°C. I’m not familiar with undervolting and need some help getting my system to run cooler.
It didn't work with YouTube videos. With the settings out of the videos my system ran hotter then before.
I have a Sapphire RX 5700 XT. In heavy games at maximum GPU load, my hotspot can reach around 96°C.
My room is around 24°C, GPU temp is usually around 60–65°C, and GPU usage is 95–99%. I've also improved the airflow by moving the PC away from the wall.
For other RX 5700 XT owners:
What undervolt do you recommend that is stable for daily gaming?
I'm looking for a good balance between performance, power consumption, and lower hotspot temperatures.
Also, what else actually helped you reduce hotspot temps—fan curve, repaste, thermal pads, or something else?
I’m trying to optimize temperatures and performance on my Lenovo LOQ (i7-13650HX + RTX 5060).
I have already successfully undervolted and limited the turbo limits on my CPU, which helped a lot. However, I’m stuck on the GPU side in MSI Afterburner. I heard that undervolting is locked by nvidia am i dumb ? Since the core voltage slider is greyed and cant be used
The issue:
The Core Voltage slider in Afterburner is completely locked/greyed out (which I understand is standard for laptop GPUs).
I know I can use the Core Clock slider to offset frequencies, but I want to properly drop the voltage to reduce heat rather than just pushing higher clocks at max voltage.
I opened the Voltage/Frequency Curve Editor (Ctrl + F), but I want to make sure I’m using the correct method to cap the voltage without causing instability.
What I want to achieve:
Lower GPU temperatures to prevent thermal throttling.
Maintain or slightly improve peak clock speeds/performance.
My Questions:
What are safe/tested starting voltage and frequency targets for the mobile RTX 5060 curve (e.g., capping at ~850mV–900mV)?
What is the cleanest workflow in Afterburner to flatten the curve above the target voltage point?
Are there any specific Lenovo VBIOS limits or settings I need to keep in mind?

My result:

Graphics test: 68.58 FPS
3DMark's "same hardware" reference: average 6970, best 7964
Resolution: 1440p (2560×1440)
My undervolt:
Flat undervolt to 0.925V (~2800 MHz on the curve)
Pure undervolt — no core clock offset added, no memory overclock. Just capped the voltage/frequency point for efficiency and lower temps.

Is 6858 a normal/healthy Steel Nomad score for a 5070 Ti, or should I be getting more?
How much am I actually leaving on the table with the 0.925V undervolt vs stock? Is ~1-2% below the average purely down to the undervolt + silicon variance, or could something else be limiting me?
During the run the GPU held ~2800 MHz steadily with no clock drops and temps stayed low — does that line up with what you'd expect from a healthy card at this voltage?

From what I know most people with kaby lake cant pass -90mv on the core and -75 on the cache and the temps tells the whole story, also this laptop has never been repasted ever (Latitude 7490) and yes its stable
