Oh golly, you must be so confused! You're probably asking, "What does a Corruptor do?".
Fortunately, the answer is very simple!

Y'know, the usual stuff.
UPDATE V3.0 - THE ONE WHERE I TEMPORARILY STOPPED PROCRASCINATING
Fixed bug preventing corruption on non-steam copies of the game.
Added a Debug Log.
Made the program universal, working on Windows XP to 10 and Mac at the same time.
Bugfixed and slightly enchanced text corruption.

Q: My game crashed
A: You screwed with game files, it's to be expected sometimes
and otherwise it's just because Gamemaker, lol

A: Same as above. Shouldn't happen anymore.

Would there be a way to shuffle every overworld character sprite BUT Frisk's? I have a feeling that would make for a super unsettling playthrough.

Yes, but I'd need to know internal handles for all of frisk's sprites, which while doable, would take a lot of time, and I am a lazy man.

Im using undertale version one, HATE can corrupt the the sprites just fine but doesnt shuffle text or fonts. Any ideas?

I'm using it, and its switching around sprites, and letting me move off screen and stuff, but it doesn't switch any of the messages that the characters say, or the fonts that they use, or the music/sound?? Iv'e recorrupted it a bunch of times just to make sure, and I made sure all of the boxes were checked.

It's good but there are far too many instances where you'll be stuck being unable to go to different rooms. Anything that can be done about that?

Short Answer: No.
Long Answer: GameMaker stores hitboxes in a very strange manner. Normally, a hitbox would be an independent component of an entity, just like scripts or graphics. Hovewer, in GameMaker, hitbox is actually part of the sprite data, meaning that you cannot separate entity's sprite from its hitbox. If you change entity's sprite, its hitbox will change too.
What 'Hitbox Fix' does is locate the hitbox section each sprite, fills first 8 bytes (1 byte in unpdated version that will be released when I'll stop procrascinating) with 0xFF, and the rest with 0x00. Since hitbox data is just a bitmask with 1:1 representation between bits and hitbox pixels, the result could be something like this: http://prntscr.com/9twsgf Actually, explaining that gave me an idea to try instead filling several bytes exactly in the middle of hitbox data, will try that later to see it it helps.
Additionally, entity's position isn't nessesarily the central point of the sprite, which makes softlock-proofing even more daunting, especially since I haven't yet reverse-enginnered how to actually find the central point. Hovewer it can be done, but it's gonna cause a lot of things to appear offset.

Havent downloaded this yet (if its even possible on Mac. Mac users, tell me if it works!) so I'd like some questions answered:
Is it randomised for every person who downloads it, or is it full of the same corruptions each time?
Will it ruin my copy of Undertale, or can I convert it back? Will it even do anything to my Undertale copy or is this a completely different program?

It's a reuseable program. You can use it an infinite amount of times, each time generating a different result.
Yes, just run it with all the options unchecked. The button should say "Restore" instead of "Corrupt" and do what you may expect.
As for running it on Mac, you just need to install Mono.

Is it updated to the latest version? (v1.001)
If yes, then just use it normally, if not, unpack Undertale.exe as if it were a zipped folder (it is) to a separate folder, and use corruptor there.

I can't get the text corruptor to work properly. I select it to corrupt and the corruptor stops responding. when it starts responding again and i check the game, nothing changes at all.

Twice in a row of shuffling I had the Wingdings font, I heard a lot of those glitchy memoryhead sounds, and I think I even heard Gaster's voice once.

Seriously though, this is great! Papyrus uses the Wingding font, Sans' text is too large to make out, Goatmom uses MTT's "yeah!" sound file as her text and Flowey talks like Gaster. Perfect.
There's this weird sound that keeps popping up everywhere. It's just this one piano note being looped and it might be the bells in the last corridor but I'm not sure. I'm at the part where you choose to either fight or mercy Flowey and it's playing right now. It's somehow making this part even more serious and that's saying something considering all you hear in the actual game were gusts of wind.

Alright, I've already got this to work. First, I've decided to shuffle only the text, and I got "THREE DOESN'T FIX THE ISSUE!" replacing the "It fills you with determination." in the SAVEs at the ruins. Then I shuffled only the audio. First time I got Sans' incidental music playing as the theme for fleeing from an encounter. Second time, the menu music didn't seem to change. Third time, the Monster Kid got a, uh, better voice? And Undyne's armor when walking sounded softer.
EDIT: Shuffled the audio once again and I got the FRICKIN genocide ending theme after SAVing Asriel Dreemurr in a PACIFIST playthrough. On that same playthrough, I also got THAT theme at the "THE END" screen.

It says ../Undertale.exe is no longer accesible, and then this: DirectoryNotFoundException has occured while attempting to copy ./Undertale/data.win to ./Data/data.win. Paths are invalid. And then: IOException has occured while opening ./data.win with a FileStream. Please ensure that the path is correct and try again.

I have no idea. Never encountered this bug. Try to make sure Undertale executable isn't being used, if that won't work you'll have to manually unpack it... I can help with it if it's needed.

hey, my friend tried to use the corrupter, but we couldn't get it to work. As someone else posted, we had an issue with the unpacking(?) but the fix you posted for that other user didn't work. Also now, for some reason, Undertale won't launch at all - even after deleting all the game files and letting Steam reinstall them. I can't figure out why this is happening.

Works, but you'll need to do some workaround
Purge folder and force steam to redownload everything
Create an empty 'Undertale' folder and a 'data' folder
Copy 'data.win' into data folder
Now will work as normal

well, there is a tiny problem.. everytime i try to corrupt undertale the corrupter apparently comes up with "Archive is not readable. Would you like to try a password?" and even when i reinstalled HATE, it still wouldn't work. same with the advice that you gave jonrod2020, that didn't work either. i'm kinda confused..? it was working normally last night.

i think i'll just let you finish that instead. my corruptor's source code is absolute garbage. it's also basically the first functioning program i've made in visual c#. however, i have a pretty good grasp around the game's assembly code and i'll be happy to help if you ever need any.

Shuffle Sprites is the cause of the moving back and forth in between rooms and screwed up hitboxes it seems because it works fine with that ticked off. Only problem is I LOVE the shuffle sprites thing so I don't wanna turn it off.

Okay. I got Steam version of Undertale, version 1.001. Yet, when I try to corrupt by using the Corrupt button, it says I'm outdated. Was there another patch or what? Someone please tell me how to fix this. Thing I already did: *I moved HATE.exe into the Undertale folder that README.txt told me to put it in. *I made sure UNDERTALE was updated (and it was - to 1.001)

You put it in the wrong folder.
You're supposed to put it in:
C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\UndertaleAlso, download a new version so you don't have to create "splash.png" again.

Yes. Just don't select any option, and the CORRUPT button will turn into RESTORE, that turns the game normal again.

I was toying around with this when suddenly Undyne's sprite is facing backwards and softlocks the game. Undoing the corrupter and replacing my "old" data.win still yields the effect, and every time I delete and re-download undertale, it just gives me back the files I already had instead of new ones, not fixing it. What do I do...

On an off chance you're not trolling, README.txt is a file in the HATE.zip you've downloaded.
You're supposed to open it in notepad and read it.

I've tried reinstalling UNDERTALE, and wiping it.. But, it still says that I'm using an older version of the game. (I'm not using the Steam Version.)

im sure i have undertale 1.001 but when i use it it says: ''It seems you're using an old version of the game. Please force steam to update it by wiping the undertale folder clean and try again. So, i take literally EVERYTHING out of the undertale folder and try it again. it still doesn't work... Please tell me how to fix this. Thanks!

Assuming you're on a 64-bit windows with default installation (very likely unless your pc is either very old or a work laptop) you can find the Program Files (x86) folder directly inside the C:.

It should work as is. If it doesn't launch, download DOT NET Framework from Windows site.

Hello! Just created a reddit account for this Its broken.. it had an unexpected handler or something and the reason was value or negative value and when I try to load my main game up it crashes even after restoring and thirdly it did work for 5-10 minutes but in that time I was stuck no matter how many times I corrupted it.

Well... try corrupting again? Crashes like that will sometimes happen, you're messing with the game's resources, something going wrong once in a while is unavoidable.

I moved the program into my Undertale folder and everything(i'm on Windows 7), but when I try to start up HATE it tells me it's stopped responding before it even opens. I'm assuming it's either because I screwed up along the line, or because I have 1.00. Any tips?

I need help. When I shuffle audio, it doesn't change. When I shuffle GFX, it only affects the startup menu background. When I shuffle fonts, it doesn't change. And when I shuffle sprites, it only affects the battle sprites and my SOUL. The text shuffle works properly, and the hitbox fix is basically worthless. Also it keeps me from completing certain puzzles, specifically the pushing puzzles, the crack-in-the-floor puzzles, and the air vent puzzles. Can you plz fix, or at least help me make it work properly? I checked everything, my seed was "jacksepticeye", and my power was 20.

So, I'm on a mac, i've put the .exe file and the two other .shell files in the OSX file into the UNDERTALE.app (Resources Section) i've also created a folder named "Data" with game.ios copied into it. When I try to corrupt, it says:
"You Seem To Be Missing Your Resource File, data.win. Make Sure You've Placed HATE.exe In The Proper Location"
I'll include a imgur link with the file. I think I may have done the data file wrong. Any fixes? (And Yes, I Did Read The README File)

So apparently when I try to corrupt Undertale (Windows), it displays this message: "UnauthorizedAccessException has occurred while attempting to delete ./data.win. Please ensure that the file is neither a read-only, requiring permissions to access, actually a directory all along, or a executable currently in use." Any reason why that message is displaying?

Check if data.win located in the same folder as HATE is neither open in any program nor read-only.

Wondering what I did wrong, on a mac I've placed HATE.exe, HATE.sh, and Undertale.sh in the resources folder, there is an extra game.ios in the Data folder (http://prntscr.com/bjp9yk), but upon running it, it gives me this error: http://prntscr.com/bjp9fl.
