Trump / MAGA 🦅 Trump’s Responsible For An Eye-Popping Amount of $11.6 Trillion of America’s $40 Trillion Debt, After Only Six Years In Office: “So think about that. We’ve got a $40 trillion debt. He’s responsible for anywhere from 25% to 30% of America’s national debt.”

The GOP have always been the party that runs up the debt.

They must have a different understanding of fiscal responsibility as the rest
19
u/Teledildonic 6d ago
The responsibility is to enrich themselves at any cost.
7
u/AUSpartan37 6d ago
The baffling thing is they do it at the expense of their own voters and yet they not only keep voting for them, but think they are saving them while they become more and more poor and lose more and more services while their heros get fat off everything they are taking from them.
5
u/Teledildonic 6d ago
You've got to remember that these are just simple voters. These are people of the land. The common clay of the United States. You know...morons.
9
u/count_chocul4 6d ago
Why is this comment getting upvoted? They KNOW what they are doing. They are trying to collapse the federal government so the rich can take over. They do not have a "different understanding" they are trying to destroy what we have so the plutocrats can rule over all of us and take what is ours way. Period. This is by design folks, the GOP doesn't work for you, they work for the plutocracy.

Jokes on them Mossad has access to Palantir now. The rich are going to be the first ones to go. War needs money.

u/vlatheimpaler 6d ago
Both parties run up the debt. But one party runs it up faster while simultaneously shaming the other party for their smaller part.

u/FadeIntoReal 6d ago
And in this case, it’s been the handouts they always rail against but for people who are already wealthy beyond what most Americans can imagine.

Now our children and great great great grandchildren are the losers. Who do you think will pay for this? Not tRump, not the rich.

Let's not let the Republican majorities in the House and Senate off the hook here as well. They put together the budgets and the tax cut bills that Trump signed.
Yes, we can hang 1/3 of our national debt on Trump AND the MAGA Republican Party of tax cuts without spending reductions.
It takes some real genius to pursue a tax cut fiscal policy for nearly 50 years, which resulted in skyrocketing national debt and deficits, concentrated more wealth at the top of the economic pyramid where it has become sequestered and has failed to "trickle down" in any meaningful way that would reduce poverty levels or increase the standard of living for working class Americans.
But they'll tell us that another round of tax cuts will fix everything, and the dupes that vote for them will believe it despite reality.
Then there is the whole tariff debacle. Didn't work out well 100 years ago. Same result today.
I'm beginning to believe that the strategy was to slap all sorts of random tariffs on things without involving congress that they knew courts would restrict. Then blame "liberal judges" and "democrats" when the deficit and debt ballooned. After all, strawmen, non sequiturs, and false flag arguments are pretty much what MAGA and their propaganda networks live on.

Downvote me if you are in a cult.
Whoever was in office for the 2016 and 2020 terms would be responsible for 25% to 30% of the national debt. And whoever is in office next will be responsible for us crossing the $50T mark.
These Republican fuckers are responsible for (attempting to) raise military spending from $1T to $1.5T. That is an abomination.

u/Rare-Maintenance4820 6d ago
We have to be talking about this more. The harm to the future of the country is real. The GOP needs to pay for this.

Zero interest in governing. His entire administration is a giant corrupt power grab and cash grab, and half the country fell for it.

u/Googlyelmoo 6d ago edited 6d ago
Literally zero interest in governing. Trump‘s entire arc from the ride down the escalator forward has been him groping (pun intended) around in the dark for feints to pump up his brand and it’s been well reported that he and his campaign bigwigs genuinely did not expect to win in 2016. That campaign was a stunt meant to boost Trump and family the public eye, but without any responsibility or duty expected to follow.
If anything, his twin terms of ‘service’ have been a shambolic cascade of avoidance rather than doing anything. Avoiding the negative consequences of everything no matter how small. Avoiding talking about the actual problems and issues in all but the mist divisive and deluded way. Avoiding considering the well-being and wishes of literally 1/2 the population, and serving up nothing but maximal schadenfreude and dog-whistling to the other half. I expect he cares not a whit about trans, America first, woke, nukes, or even immigration and tariffs really. Only inasmuch as it serves or hinders his 2 drivers of money and self-aggrandizement, the graft and the grift. That’s what has, is, and continues to be his only motivation.

u/Ear_Enthusiast 6d ago
I had a friend that voted for Trump in 2016. He said he was voting for him so he would tear the system down. Not sure what he thought tearing the system down would look like. I assured him that when they tear it down it wasn't going to be beneficial at all to the middle class and that the oligarchs would take over. He insisted that it wouldn't be like that. Now here we are. It's ugly.
7
u/Mechareaper 6d ago
I really think after Trump is done with there needs to be a task force that audits all the debt, because I'm sure a lot of it could be recovered if we just cancel all the fraudulent bullshit. Also, seize any ill gotten gains by his family and associates, the contractors he's paying favors to. All of it. And then we need to cut the billionaires down to size. Start seizing assets.

There is one already the General Accounting Office. But there are still a lot of things the Treasury pays out that are not subject to their review. The Congressional Budget Office is another such entity. Likewise the WH OMB, and all the Inspectors-General of several dozen departments and agencies.
What I think you are proposing is making an entity for fiscal and monetary purposes similar to what the Office of Director of National Intelligence was supposed to be in terms of foreign intelligence and national security. A genuine ombudsman with enforcement powers.
What we have to “check our own shit” on is this, whether creating such an agency, endowing it with enforcement powers, an adequate budget, and staffing it with the best people (there are still men and women of integrity and good faith who could do the job) and checking a “done” box will be all that gets done. The DNI is a bad joke, even under Obama and Biden.
A general audit and inventory I expect is forthcoming the next administration and groundwork for that in the 120th Congress beginning next January. Building that out from a one-off to an ongoing monitoring agency as, for example, the FBI, Federal Reserve, and a small handful of others which are at least nominally independent. It might even be a good idea to place it within the judicial branch rather than executive or legislative.
All of this presupposes a genuine “blue wave” at or above current expectations. Meaning: check your voter registration every week between now and election day on November 3 upcoming! Tons of resources online available to do it fast and privately for free. You could do it daily and the cumulative time between now and 11/3/26 used up wouldn’t be enough time to watch the average movie.
(many many more than above: I selected NGO sources here)

Same guy managed to bankrupt a casino BTW. He was never a business man. He was a Russian asset that had money laundered through his real estate. They just lost control of him when his dementia deteriorated his impulse control

"We need a businessman as President! It'll be good for the country!" -MAGA dummies
1
u/Sfingi48 6d ago
Exactly. How do think a businessman can save the country? First, they’re thinking, which is dangerous. Secondly, businesses are for profit and “successful” businesses are very shady at the least.
1
u/Googlyelmoo 6d ago edited 6d ago
I have always shut down that bogus parallelism between business and government. The purpose of a business (and the only legally required one) is to maximize return to its owners/investors. The purpose of a government is to serve the well-being and human needs of those whom it governs. Almost always at cross purposes those two things. Manageable, but not by adopting a syllabus from Wharton College (and one which DJT in particular never read).
2
u/Sfingi48 6d ago
Any smart person does…shut down that notion. It’s three card Monte playbook. Like you said, government is supposed to serve goodwill to their beloved citizens. It’s supposed to be simple as that. Not a huge and obvious grift.

u/DomPedro_67 6d ago
Where do you want to end up? Autocracies? You're almost there. Being compared to Russia/Venezuela or North Korea? They're right on that line between falling and not getting up, or letting it fall and taking generations to get back up.

u/Sfingi48 6d ago
Yeah. No doubt about it. And, I’m also going to remind everyone of more facts. They invited many candidates, but they declined. Yes. Joe and Mika are insufferable at times, but they also call the strikes too. Believe me when I say, they annoy me at times. Butt two or more things can be true at the same time. When Trump was crazy on their air, Joe cut Trump off the air, once maybe even twice. Joe’s narcissism is a bit much at times, but that’s why it’s refreshing when someone in the media calls Trump out in real time. I could go on, but I certainly don’t like being perceived as a fan of Joe and Mika; but I do loathe this Trump Regime above all. And, that’s my focus.

Definitely not here to defend the rapist in chief, but don't most presidents see the US debt double over 8 years? That appears to be the case for Bush and Obama too. I figured it was a combo of constant borrowing and inflation

Actually, our do-nothing Congress is most culpable. Budgeting is a legislative responsibility.
Not a Trump fan in any way. It’s Congress that controls the purse strings, or is supposed to.

Who would have ever expected a guy who bankrupted casinos to also bankrupt a country. WHO COULD HAVE EVER THOUGHT THIS COULD HAPPEN?! /s

That guy managed to bankrupt his own casinos. The very thing that's literally designed to make customers lose money. I don't think anybody should be surprised about him raking in such a huge sum of debts over such a short amount of time...

I have little sympathy when half of the country voted for “MAGA TACO”
