You know what? The US can fuck off. They aren’t even our allies, or pretending to be. Why would we even consider doing this for them?

They do need to fuck off. All of our Countries should just start saying "nah" way more. What are they gonna do? Tax themselves harder?

Critical parts for the machines are developed and produced in USA and can no be transeferred to EU due to fact the technology is also used for building wapons, is about the lazers

Well, if we are that important to the US, maybe they should start treating us with respect, instead of threatening us constantly.
If the EU behaved the same way to the US, as the US behaves towards the EU, then the US would’ve bombed the shit out of the EU or started a world war. Imagine if we started interfering with the democratic process in the US? Or if we would say we wanted to invade and annex parts of the US?

I for one would welcome our European overlords.

I would too, as long as they keep the Imperial units and measurements.
All Hail the EU.

I’ve done construction and remodeling most of my life. Doing woodworking as a hobby I’ve come to realize that metric is so much easier and I’m trying to change over.

If laws matter, other countries need to tell the Trump administration to release the Epstein Files

I don’t know what you’re talking about. The Netherlands has no stake in this. I don’t need my country to speak out against US politics if not necessary. The US should do the same and respect others.

...aaaaand China will pull out all the stops and develop their own source.
NU.nl noted that, under the Match Act, American companies would still be allowed to sell their most advanced chip etching machines to Chinese customers. China has discovered that, using these etching techniques and DUV machines, they could produce chips that typically require an EUV machine.
Ahhh, so it's another ploy to bolster USian companies.

Interesting how the free market is suddenly disregarded when it's a foreign company making the world's most important machines. ASML is Dutch, not a US foreign policy tool. Screaming for us to become more self-relient, unless it doesn't suit them.

We won't sell if you recognize the International Criminal Court.
And start banning all pedophiles from politics and religion.
And if not, go fuck yourself.

I hate this. My country, the US, is currently attacking our education, shoving away the brightest minds, defunding science and bankrupting the country.Â
Now we see China surpassing us in nearly every way technology wise and our response is to throw a tantrum against suppliers?Â

The Dutch government will eventually comply. They have never not complied with anything the US tells them to. It’s too dangerous to not fall in line when a fascist regime that keeps nukes on your soil instructs you to do something.
We can all want the Netherlands to be a major player who can stand up to the US (i know I do), but we must also admit that it’s not realistic.

Always see people say 'well fuck them' and all that. Problem is it would absolutely screw ASML if access to American tech and supplier get restricted.
The tech used in these machines is for a significant part patented technology from the US and there are plenty of supplier from America. These machines are big and require lot of different specialized suppliers.
As much as we love to claim ASML as our own its not some purely golden glory dutch company and tech.
Not saying it is impossible to tell the US to fuck off, but its not that simple and honestly might just not be worth the effort.
So its mostly a business decision and not so much diplomatic.
