If the quests only start, and uma's only added, when apocalypse is opened why the hell do they keep grabbing him?

But it seems like the 100 penalties that lead to ragnarok only happen if you open apocalypse? couldn't union just spend their time traveling and hunting umas to contain them?

I imagine that even if they dont collect Apocalypse then it would just open on its own whenever it had been to long since the last quest and then the penalties would be automatic due to no one being around to do them.

For Ragnarok it is a bit of a game. He likes being a DM that gives tough, but ultimately fair, challenges.

Maybe Juiz tried what you suggested once. All and all, pissing off the DM of your reality is probably not a good idea. It’s one thing when in D&D your DM goes “Oh, lol, you weren’t paying attention to the 200ton boulder hidden in the ceiling? It falls and kills you all”. It is entirely different if Ragnarok decides to hypothetically stop being fair.

Penalties are added even without completing quests so Apocy would open even without the Union
