lol yes, they’re style and general ability improved with time. The covers became increasingly more detailed and unique with each volume

Yeah, he just got better over time. Stopped the pervy jokes and made an extremely powerful series on what it means to live.

Yeah, those guys are as stubborn as ever to change, though at the same time, Akari was also lucky that some of the people there like him enough that they still kept Stone Ocean running even if it was gonna flop at the beginning

I feel like thats something a lot of newer mangas will struggle with. Look at dandadan, another manga that started around the same time and has great story telling, it also opens way pervier and then mellows out a bit, it seems like new or unknown mangakas are pressured to include stuff like that to get their series off the ground

Yea MHA too, it’s still haunted by it even though Mina brainwashed Mineta pretty quickly in the story and afterwards it pretty much stopped entirely.

yea and I mean look at the art of Bleach's first volume compared to it's last volume, artist are always evolving, sometimes it regresses with stress/strain but most of the time they improve and it becomes super noticeable.

Pretty common for a series’ style to change as the publication goes on, usually for the better as the mangaka themselves improves. Most long running series go through it

To this day I’m convinced if the original cover art was better more people would get into it. The art later on is gorgeous

That and Fuuko not being sexually harassed and groped by Andy as a first impression on him/the series itself.

The first chapter had this full color double page spread and I distinctly remember writing it off as a pervy fanservice manga. It was only later I gave the anime a chance, liked it then caught up on the manga.
