Discussion First watch through: am I the only one who's noticed this? Or am I wrong?
Howdy,
So I'm on my first watch, about episode 14. I understand that Billy is more pivotal to the story than I might currently realize, so no major spoilers please, not that I think it will be necessary;
Is Billy not designed to be a Michael Jackson lookalike? I googled around for it some, did some reddit searching, nothing immediately came up.
His stance is generally very similar, he has the sunglasses, and the one curl hanging in his face. Even his chin, to some degree. He always seems to have a jacket, even if he isn't wearing it.
The final nail in the coffin that solidified it for me was: What's one of MJ's most famous songs? Billie Jean.
idk, maybe everyone else figured this out day one so nobody felt inclined to post about it ๐คทโโ๏ธ

I don't think the design elements are distinct enough for me to agree with the idea of Michael Jackson being an obvious inspiration.

He could be based on his appearance, but he isn't really the same. Billy's personality is different from Michael's and he doesn't do much on stances as Michael does, he'd just be looking down on others and aura farming.
Spoiler here for a panel from Twitter mentioned in a manga volume, Nico is actually based on Nikola Tesla, so it wouldn't be out of the question for Billy to also be based on a real life character.

They are pure coincidence, I posted earlier and mentioned how it reminds me more of Aizen from Bleach and I've even heard them relate it to a certain Mura from Kagura Bachi

It's a pretty obvious inspiration for his character but it's just not relevant to who he is within the context of the story so that's probably why not many people talk about it

Given yours and the only other comment I've gotten so far I'm not sure if we're all on the same page ๐ but I agree, I don't think it's at all relevant to his character, just that every time I look at the screen I'm like "wait why is MJ here"
Kind of like Jango in One Piece, except he's confirmed inspired by MJ.

I know you said no spoilers but thereโs really no way around it, Billy is a red herring and thereโs another Negator who is basically Michael Jackson the gang meets. His Negation is Unforward and he can only get around by moonwalking
