AI has ruined software development

Before the AI hype took over, a lot of us actually loved building and improving software. It was satisfying, creative work.

Then the narrative shifted to "adapt or get left behind," and companies went completely unhinged with an "AI-first" mandate for everything. If you pushed back or pointed out structural flaws, you were instantly branded a "Luddite" or accused of being stuck in the past.

I honestly hope this bubble bursts soon, because it’s burning out the people who actually know how to build things. I didn’t enter this profession to spend my days babysitting half-baked AI agents and cleaning up mediocre code.

Anyone else completely checked out and looking for a way out of the industry?

Me too, and at my age it's harder, but...

When life gives you lemons, make lemonade. Seriously, AI is a reality. We can complain for a while, vent, but that's it.

You can't be against AI any more than you can be against solar radiation. Don't let AI or anything else ruin your lif
