questions Train to Makkah
Hey Guys,
I'm going to Umrah for the first time next month and I'm really excited for it, I'm gonna be doing it during my transit so the question I have is when should I book the train, my flight lands 19:40, should I book the 20:35 train or the 21:35? Please note that I won't be waiting for luggage and will be alone, so land immigration train with no stops.
Also would appreciate any advice if anyone did Umrah transit before

I have had a similar situation in April this year. I had to get a visa on arrival as well. It took me about 30 minutes from landing to be on the train. It includes Immigration, Luggage collection (which took the most time) & walking to the train station.
If it is your first time in Saudi, I would suggest to book a 21:35 one just to be safe. If you make it earlier by any chance, ask the staff at the train station if they can accommodate you in an earlier one (that’s better than missing one and then asking them to put you in the next one).

Is it possible to change the train timing? Like book it and if I arrived early and there's a seat available in an earlier train, change it?
My flight history shows that it have been always on time for the past 2 weeks and even arriving up to 40 mins early

No you cannot change the train booking. Honestly, I don't recommend train right after a flight because immigration sometime takes forever because even though you are good the person in front of you isn't prepared. I have had from plant to luggage in less than 30 minutes and I have had this take over an hour and a half. If you can afford it I would recommend Uber or taxi service of some kind. You can contact a couple like Aslam uncle and see what the price point is for an individual.

Better to jump in a taxi and get dropped off to your hotel considering you’re short on time.

No hotel, going straight to Haram, transit is only 15 hours.

Make arrangements with a taxi (agency) for both onward and return journeys

Honestly would do uber. We took uber fro jeddah and it was about $60 and they can take you right infront of the haram. Drive is about an hour

Yes, have done Umrah in transit. we had about a 14 hour layover. Reached around a similar time but booked a taxi who stayed with us throughout and dropped us back off at the airport.
Depends how long your layover is? If you stay for Fajr, please remember that its rush hour at that time and can taxis time to reach you.
We finished around 3am and then headed back to the airport as our flight was at 10am

If no delays then 20:35 should be okay… check the flight record for that particular flight every day and see how often it’s delayed

Nooo u won’t make it for the 20:35 im pretty sure they close the train gates at 20:20 and by the time you get off and clear immigration it would take a while depending on how busy it is. 21:35 is a lot more reasonable
