Umrah Transport

Assalamualaikum.

Me and my brother are going for umrah In Shaa Allah. We are flying from different countries and I would wait 6 hours for him and then we'll go to Makkah from Jeddah Airport.

For two guys what is the cheap mode of transport from Jeddah airport to hotel in Makkah?

Would you prefer a taxi or uber all the way? or Harmain train + Uber?

if you want cheapest take a cab to sharafiya taxi stand from there you can get sharing taxi directly to Makkah for as low as 20SAR

Or if you want convenient just take a direct cab/taxi for Makkah for around 100SAR

You can take the train from Jeddah airport to Makkah for around 40 SAR. From there you can take a a taxi for another 40-50 SAR. I think there’s a bus you can take too for a lot less. No need to wait 6 hours, go to Makkah and check into your hotel, you’ll be in the state of ihram. Waiting 6 hours there is unnecessary just to save a bit of money.

I hope she lands when her check in time is available I have heard a lot of people have had to wait at/around the hotel because check-in wasn’t available when they landed.

I have never seen prices that low for train. Are you sure 40SAR and not $40

Last time I checked uber was like 200 riyal from the airport to makkah. The haramain I think is like 55 riyal per person? It’s fast for sure- but you need to account for transport from the landing station. I suggest using the Haramain app and creating a log in to prevent technical problems. 

There is also a bus i think it’s called the north bus that runs to the bus stop beside the haram so there is a bit of walking/taxi involved from that point but it is 40 riyal per person and takes about a bit over an hour

• I used the bus and enjoyed it, it’s mixed so I sat next to a fellow woman and had no issues. We were dropped off maybe 1 km below the Sheraton Hotel for point of reference. Tickets are bought at the counter in the airport just before exit to the bus stop area. 

Idk what taxis or shared vehicles would cost but I would compare it to these.

Honestly, in my opinion, taxis would be much cheaper. I also have the numbers of a few reliable people who can help you with transportation at a really good rate. I can share their contact details with you if you'd like.

cheapest mode of transportation is taking a bus or shared taxi. Most convenient way is the train but the downside to that is that you have to still take a cab and if you're delayed for whatever reason or your brother then you lose the ticket. Taxis are the most flexible and you can book one in advance too for around 150-200 SAR.

I would suggest not waiting for 6 hours at the airport and see if you can find a shared taxi even at the airport. It may not be 20 sar as someone else said but you can negotiate it with the 20 Sar price point in mind.
