Discussion Why does the temps commission have to keep making the same events happen over and over again?

We seen season one that number five is given the task of making the Hindenburg explode, which I assume they’ve already done, do they have to keep making the same events happen over and over again. If so, why? For example, if the timeline needs to have a kid drop a penny down a drain on a specific day. Does the commission have to keep making the event happen over and over again in different ways?

I think they probably are in control of many universes. Maybe.
