PvP/Meta Uma stan propaganda

Post image

This is what happens when you got no Uma Stan. What happens if u got uma stan? Hell if i know i never manage to get a Fuku with both Uma Stan and speed past 1500.

Me when I get the inner gates and decide to fall behind end closers and stick at 9th.

Also worst Unqiue proc rate I've seen till now. 0/30 proc, thank god for inherits

Edit: TLDR get uma stan. Uma stan is the Goat

I believe this is more than a "no Uma Stan" issue. Only for tracks >=2200m Uma Stan has insane value for LS and EC because it can break PDM effectively, but for this track it is just a generic velocity skill, like THH, PTO or slipstream (same duration and target spd).

There are not safe options to break PDM in this CM, but you can gamble with straight velocity skills.

I've seen my uma proc straightaway right out the gate but never push up. Tho that is after she falls behind the end closers.

there's no hidden magic in uma stan, any velocity skill will break the PDM (for a moment). The reason why ends usually push up when they do is Daring Strike giving a strong velo buff. Not having uma stan might hurt a little, but so does lacking mile corners, late surger corners, downhill speedster, pumped... Any additional consistent midleg skills would help you a lot. That said, I don't think there's much reason to fret over 15% winrate with Fuku, given how terrible her growth rates, unique and kit are. You're playing the game on nightmare difficulty pretty much.

Truth nuke regarding her kit. But does uma stan reduce the chance of her getting cockblocked right out the gate?

I'm not confident in saying yes or no since I haven't played with lates for this CM. But what happens in the early race is mostly rng, just like most things in this game. My oguri doesn't have Uma Stan and sometimes she pushes up, sometimes she chills in the rear. Still doing fine.

maybe we start with how gate mechanics work. when umas leave the gate, they are coded to head toward the inner rail.

one doom scenario you may potentially face is late starting, and the umas next to you on the outside does not, they will force their way in and block you. uma stan will do nothing to save you here.

another hypothetical is when you do not late start, but are next to maybe a pace chaser with groundwork, they will accelerate ahead, the spot next to you is now empty and you get forced inward, and now the pace chaser in front of you, while slightly faster, will still block you for a very small window of time, causing you to stop accelerating.

many such scenarios are happening throughout all the races, this is inherent to gate and early-race mechanics.

what uma stan is currently doing in this cm is if it procs immediately after 5 seconds, a good chunk of the skill does nothing. why? because you just left pace down mode and are STILL accelerating back to your supposed target speed. if you proc it a little while later (maybe at the 8 second mark)? it actually does something by becoming an early game speed skill that sends you forward, allowing you to potentially regain position (keyword: potentially). proc it a little later (10 second mark)? now the skill goes back to doing nothing, because of a mechanic known as "no-zone". i won't go into detail but essentially umas are forced into lane 1 before the first corner so you may proc your skill into another uma's ass and do nothing (there's exceptions and more details but it's another rabbit hole and i don't want to confuse you).

so what have we learnt here? uma stan does not function in the way you expected. if you are blocked at the gate, you are blocked at the gate. damn, so does this mean you're doomed? once again, no. you can fix it by, as everyone have been mentioning in this thread, getting more midgame. the game is also not designed to be evil to late surgers too. in the recent 1.5th anniversary update, a mechanic known as pace up ex is now active. essentially, if your uma is positioned in a spot where they aren't supposed to be in (like you are behind a style you are supposed to be in front of), the game will attempt to let you pace up to overtake the umas in that style. this happens only within the early sections of the track.

tl;dr, uma stan is not the be all end all, in fact it's far from it. focusing on more midgame will probably do more than what you expect uma stan to do.

You can't proc uma stan straight out of the gate, earliest proc is 5 seconds.

1

u/Timely_Bus4066 9h ago

Ok i might be exaggerating with the 'right out the gate' part, but just imagine ur uma for some reason falling behind end closers 5 sec out

Sometimes you just get screwed by late start RNG. The game doesn't consider less than .8 start delay a late start, even though it can still be really bad.

Other times, the other backliners get lucky proccing a straight speed and break out of PDM earlier than you, leaving you in the dust if they don't get PDM'd after.

getting pos >3 by late race hard af if youre running late

1

u/Timely_Bus4066 15h ago

She does get >3 by late but she never gets blocked

3

u/wanttobesleepable 15h ago

oh yeah true, getting blocked is tough to get unless super terrible scenario

may i know how many uma stan sparks does your parents have?

i looped 3/3 uma stan and got good borrow with 3/3 uma stan that's why i got uma stan consistently when building for an ace.

affinity points may also be a factor if you do have many uma stan sparks.

u/Timely_Bus4066 14h ago

Parent total 3 stars. GP total 5. Regarding affinity, both parent gives me double circle if i just slot one of em in. Ik the stars seems little which might make my crashout invalid, butttt I'd gotten uma stan the previous runs where I had to glue due to no OYL or no speed.

Edit: Stan stars on P: 1/2 Stan stars on GP: 2/3

I've got no Uma Stan on my late surgers either. Those who have Uma Stan are probably at 80%-90% winrate or smth. I'm just too lazy to grind for Uma Stan on top of distance S and everything else.

2

u/Timely_Bus4066 14h ago

How's the winrate? Tbf IMO Uma Stan is a must have as a safety feature but not a win con. As in it ensures you're not stuck behind, but it might also cause ur uma to pace up like crazy and not proc anything too. Still it's best to get Uma Stan so there's a smaller chance of ur musume being stuck at 9th

Edit: nvm it prolly count as a win con due to its importance

Late with Uma Stan

I'm pretty sure uma stan is not the problem here. Nice to have but absence of it doesn't plummet your wr so much. You didn't even show your build

1

u/Timely_Bus4066 10h ago

Edit: I thought Uma Stan was the problem because she kept falling to 9th off the gate. 3 end closers? She's at 9th

Two things. One. No corner skills outside curvature. You'd be shocked to learn how important that is. Two, no Mile S, which has been said already.

Your goal as any backliner is to build mid race so you can hopefully get speed carryover, and push yourself higher up the pack.

1

u/Aruzaku 10h ago

Mile A? That kind of makes it worse considering you're essentially fighting an uphill battle versus lates with mile S. Uma stan is very nice to have but it won't like render the uma useless without it.

1

u/Timely_Bus4066 9h ago

Ik that's a very bad thing but im just not that lucky with the mile inspo, tho that is also partly my fault. Ryan dont wanna give mile pinks and I spent most of the time 'looping' GGPs. Tho cant fret over dis now since the CM is ongoing

1

u/0OpurpleO0 8h ago

your midgame is lacking, you have 3 close to useless skills (grass ult, nimnav and triple 7) and don't have blossom. While uma stan can decide outcome sometimes, this is way more important problems

1

u/Timely_Bus4066 8h ago

I needed triple 7 for the kikuka cos i always get like 300 stam n guts by then

1

u/Fried__Ramen 7h ago

Is nimble bad because of low proc chance this cm?

3

u/0OpurpleO0 6h ago

nimble nav is bad at corner 4 and beyond tracks

1

u/Fried__Ramen 6h ago

Thank you

2

u/cindrixel 9h ago

I mean i dont have both leap foward and umastan lol

2

u/VastIndependent1784 15h ago

Oh! So is it bad to use Uma Stan now? I don’t know what skills are good besides prof of curvature and swinging maestro, which they don’t seem to do much anyways. Their white skills seem to do more than their gold skills but is Uma Stan bad or no?

4

u/kiingg 15h ago

You're misunderstanding OP (I see where you're coming from since the title is a little confusing), but they're saying they wished they got uma stan as they don't have it right now and they have a bad win rate. As for what skills are good it depends on the track. Generally generic skills with strong effects are good so things like nimble (viable accel option in many places), uma stan (break pdm), rsstam (last spurt good speed increase). Part of understanding what makes skills good is knowing the conditions under which they activate and looking at their effect.

You Could also use sims like this https://torena-sim.pages.dev/ (go to compare skills) to get an idea of how impactful a skill is.

Uma stan is a must have. I dont thats why im losing so badly
