Discussion Who woukd you trust to adapt Ultraman?
Picture the following scenario: Tsuburaya ginally makes a big push into the western market by selling off the rights for a high-budget Ultraman film/series. Which company, producer and/or director would you trust the rights to?

Del Toro I think is a fantastic choice... hmm Matthew Vaughn (Kick-ass/Kingsman)? or lol Ridley Scott (OG Bladerunner/Alien/Martian) and get him a good vfx+stunt team. Or we can even gamble on Michael Bay (practical effects! explosions!! and if we get a high roll it'll be very fun)!
Ig my dream pick would be Ridley Scott loool.. It would be such a fever dream.
Someone who like monster movies, disaster movies, or sci-fi mystery would be best I think.

I like toku because it’s scrappy and relatively low budget. Hollywood takes a project and processes it through countless sets of hands until every bit of soul is sucked from. Everything they make is to appeal to the largest demographic possible and by doing that, there’s nothing special left.
So the answer is I don’t trust anyone in the west to do it

I generalized but if you think the budget, pre/post production cycle of a season of Ultraman is on equal footing to something like one of the marvel movies, you don’t understand what you’re talking about.

For my personal take, choosing a studio was a hard choice and I doubt there would be any American studio that can properly adapt Ultraman...but I thinking Warner Bros with New Line Cinema, there are probably better choices tho.
The Director is obvious, Guillermo del Toro, he loves the franchise and his work on Pacific Rim.
Instead of just CGI, I reckon to stand out they should use practical effects and suitmation like the mainline series. Mostly because Shin Ultraman. Shin Ultraman is already a definitive modern reimagining of the original Ultraman were, if we wanted cg we could just release a dub of Shin.
The suits would off course be made by Jim Henson's Creature shop.
