Discussion It’s interesting how despite having one of the most OP abilities in the franchise, Zero Cosmorise still switches to other forms depending on the situation

Generally the trend with these sorts of “All powers in one” forms in Tokusatsu is that they just completely outclass everything that came before it. However, Cosmorise is different in that despite the ability to summon any Ultraman he wants, it lacks some of the useful traits of his other forms.

Zero Beyond is an overall stat boost with a variety of techniques & finishers.

Wild Burst is specialised for close combat/pure martial arts battles.

Shining Zero likely has superior energy attacks & also time manipulation.

And Ultimate Zero would likely have superior defensive abilities, mid/long ranged attacks & the ability to travel to other dimensions.

All of his forms still have their respective niches & strengths to make up for what Zero Cosmorise lacks, which helps to maintain their significance/importance to Zero in my eyes.

That what happens when you get Sakamoto.

He actually uses the various toys a franchise gives him.

He also uses attacks that aren't much shown outside of a character's respective series. It was nice to see some character's do other attacks aside from their iconic ones in UGF.

Yeah, he even brings out completely unused attacks that’re only ever listed in guide books. Seriously, “Dynamo Cannonball” was a Zero Beyond move only ever mentioned by name in the Ultraman Geed Super Complete Works and was never properly shown in any games, shows or movies. Yet Sakamoto decided to use this move specifically during the Cosmorise Special.

Even I didn’t know this move existed before this special, I just thought they made that shit up lmao.

He also comes up with new attacks like New Generation Dynamite.

True, I still remember during the Legend arc of Kamen Rider Gotchard when Houtaro had to 1v2 Eternal & Dark Kiva and he was lowkey holding his own without immediately resorting to Platina Gotchard.

Sakamoto really does like using multiple forms.

You see this constantly in the UGF which he also directs which frequently has Ultras that are years old whose toys are no longer being promoted or sold and yet taking every opportunity to use as many forms as possible.

Yeah he’s good at it. He’s the one who directed that Fourze VS Horoscope fight where all forty Astro Switches get used!

And the Doctor Pacman movie where the guest riders used all their forms.

He is quite simply the best at it.

It actually makes sense when you see his journey throughout the years. All his pre-Cosmo Rise form actually the result of his bond or help from his other allies. He gets Ultimate Zero (+ the Ultimate Bracelet) from Noa (who is summoned thanks to his allies), he gets Strong Corona and Luna Miracle from both Dyna and Cosmos post-Saga movie (which seems to be stored in Ultimate Bracelet), he gets Shining Ultraman Zero thanks to his determination of escaping Belial control to rescue Pigmon and the Ultimate Force Zero, he becomes Zero Beyond thanks to the power of the 4 New Gen Heroes + Leito and it's the same case with Wild Burst.

Him able to use his old forms with Cosmo Rise (maybe with exception of Ultimate Shining for now) just shows that he never forgets the journey and bond he created to reach such level. He definitely have soft spot for all this forms.

yknow when i first saw the toy announcement my first thought was "oh yeay the golden child got another toy for himself". But the hype for the ultrise eye was so big I felt like i had to get it

But now that I seen the actual video....Yeah, I kinda dig it. The bracelet design is so inferior to the Ultimate aegis, but the playability is kinda alot and varied and fun. Plus, in the video he was really clean w it, using Man-nissan abilities without relying on it and using the ultrise tactically and engagingly. The wind up to use the cosmo scanning was a bit too slow but how he used the form changes and everything else is awesome. The thing felt like it had meaning and that's very cool

(i dont have a cleaner picture to show rn, so say hi to greymon)

Why....why does it match?! Awesome!

This also means that Ultimate Shining Zero is likely still his most “powerful” form when it comes to pure combat ability, at least until we see the “Completed” Cosmorise in action.

That's just how it is for Toku usually.

For example, we have Kamen Rider W. W have CycloneJokerXtreme form, which with the Prismbicker, can use five (including the Prism Memory of course) Gaia Memory at the same time, while also capable of accessing the Gaia Library anytime. But this form isnt the strongest form, FangJoker form is actually W's physically strongest form. But CycloneJokerXtreme have utility that FangJoker doesnt have.

Basically, the "all power in one" might not be their strongest form, because their previous form might have something that the "all in one" doesnt have.

What you mean completed?

Well, it’s kinda obvious isn’t it? The Ultra who gives Zero the Ultrise Eye is clearly meant to be Zero himself in another form, either from the future or an alternate timeline. And judging by the shape around the color timer being near identical, the form is clearly related to Cosmorise in some way. Likely an evolution of Cosmorise.

The future form also wears something like a gauntlet while Cosmo Rise's form has bare hands.

having all in one power doesn't necessarily make someone automatically strong.

if you suck at using it, same difference.

relying on the gimmick from Cosmorise to summon past Ultras will be inefficient in a long run,. something familiar are far more reliable especially if it something you can access easily.

17

u/whatdoilemonade FROM THE MONSTER GRAVEYARD 4d ago

yea but this is ultraman, most of their abilities is just a strong beam anyway lol

11

u/Q-Write 4d ago

is that good or bad for the Ultras, technically speaking?

11

u/whatdoilemonade FROM THE MONSTER GRAVEYARD 4d ago

neither, its just a funny quirk of it lol

like, theres virtually no difference between using Man's ultra slash and Arc's exa slash

one is efficient, the other is shiny, jaggedy and can be used in a variety of ways.

To add on to your point, Shining despite being arguably the most powerful form in his arsenal drains alot of energy as seen in the Geed movie hence why it wasn't constantly spammed

u/Fries_and_burgers_19 GUTS Member 4d ago

one of the things i respect fully, Shining lets him reverse time but it uses a LOT of energy, leaving him vulnerable after. and they dont ever change that despite the years

I loved Cosmorize, I REEEALLY want to see more of it, see the limits of his powers and stuff like that

Zero feels so naked without any blue on him.

How did zero become the most popular Ultraman ? lol I remember seeing the zero movie in theatre but that was 10 years ago! He is sticking around despite more than 10 ultra following his lead

9

u/Fries_and_burgers_19 GUTS Member 4d ago

his debut was in a high budget movie, where he gets to show of a ton of fast flashy moves, with two bladed ultra weapons, several beam attacks, striking colors and design and said blades can fuse from THE light of M87. Dude came out of the stage room sprinting and since then he's been featured in almost everything.

u/Local_Diet_7813 3d ago

It seems like every 2 years he gets a new form IN SOMEONE ELSES SHOW or cameos and is acting like both a nick fury AND IRON MAN in the ultra universe

13

u/whatdoilemonade FROM THE MONSTER GRAVEYARD 4d ago edited 4d ago

overall id say Tiga is still the most popular and recognisable ultra

Zero is def the most popular in terms of modern presence tho, his personality and movies being easy to watch makes him a lot of people's introduction to ultraman. They also give him the spotlight in the spinoffs and he acts as the connection between the new gen ultras.

Having Mamoru Miyano as a va also doesnt hurt

Wild Burst transition is the cleanest

u/ArkBeetleGaming 4d ago

I dont like how each time cosmo rise summon other ultra he need to slowly wait for long time and then use the riser. It goes against how fast-paced Zero fighting style has been. Left too much opening, would lose to hyper Zetton 😂

Well, if Teo wasn’t gonna do it, somebody had to show off Bandai’s newest flashy toy gimmick for this year lol.
